Waiting staff were very helpful and friendly. They helped me find a wine to my liking. The food was excellent with our party of four clearing all of our plates including trying each other’s meals. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere would recommend this place to anyone.

Garlic mushrooms followed by penne all'amatriciana.
Wife had grilled goat's cheese then aubergine parmigiana. Licked our plates clean! Bottle of Malvasia Nero excellent.

Excellent as ever. Standard of quality here has been maintained for many years.

Fantastic meal! Great service. Will be back again soon!

Excellent food as usual. Quite busy at 1900hrs and a delay between being seated and taking drink order. Also quite a wait from taking order to serving. Food worth the wait and good value for money.

'Leicester little hidden Italian Gem' great place to dine. it was our first visit to Casa Romana and we weren't disappointed. The food was delicious, service was great. apparently its been open for 30 years and its taken me this long to find it, which was a real shame and I think we will definitely revisit. If there was one criticism it would be they don't sell 'Birra Moretti' on draft. fine Italian food deserves fine Italian lager (not just Peroni) but the red wine was rather good... well done keep up the good work!

The food was extremely good as usual and the staff were all very attentive and friendly, we were offered a free drink as they were quite busy which is a great representation of their excellent service. Would recommend this restaurant to anyone, and will continue to eat here for as long as it is open.

Fabulous, thank you for making my birthday so special xxx

The food here is always excellent and the ambience very good (though some Italian background music rather than what sounded like a local radio station) would be a good idea. The service was prompt, but the waiter who took our drink orders got things rather muddled, and the waitress who brought us an extra glass for water when we requested it did slam it down with a certain lack of grace. The owner, Francesco, was obviously not around, and we were left wondering if standards slip slightly in his absence. On the whole, however, a very good evening.

Lovely food as usual and good size portions, good friendly service. Very hot night so air con would have been nice and whole place could do with an upgrade. Definitely return again though.

I loved the mussels- the sauce was piquant and very tasty. The veal in marsala was also delicious. Salad was very basic.
Seicento was good. I would definitely visit again.

Another excellent meal at Casa Romana, it never fails to provide superb cuisine and friendly staff.

Great food and great atmosphere at Casa Romana!

Had a fantastic evening 6 guests celebrating a birthday food excellent very good service and friendly

    Best Italian restaurant in Midlands!

Seem to have overbooked but once seated we had a nice meal but seemed a little overpriced.

Excellent meal, though a little noisy.

Food was nice. Service was nice. Nice environment.

First time here, we both enjoyed our evening!
4 stars for food value as I know its valantines but still a bit pricey.

Wonderful Valentines Day Menu, fantastic service, company, food and ambiance xxxx

Always a great place to eat, would recommend 100% amazing food and first class service.

Great food served efficiently in a relaxing romantic atmosphere!

Never had a bad meal at this restaurant! Authentic Italian food at its best. Fresh fish daily and an owner who's passionate about the food he serves. For me, it's one of the best places in the county!

The food at Casa Romana is fantastic, beautifully cooked and great flavours. Sadly even though I had booked some weeks earlier we were left sitting on a couple of chairs for 20 minutes before being shown to our table. Yet other diners arriving after us where shown straight to their tables. Spoilt our special evening a little but as already said the food was fab!

Have been going to Casa Romana for years. Usually excellent. Unfortunately, not tonight. Two diners had tagliatelle with lamb ragout. I've had it before. Tonight I think they forgot to put the lamb in. It tasted nice, but not what I expected and not what I've had before. One diner had Carbonara which was excellent. Would still highly recommend. Everyone can have an off night!

Very good food as always. My penne salmon was delicious as my friend's halibut. Service unusually was a bit surly but overall this is an excellent venue for an Italian lunch with a good atmosphere.

A delicious meal in a cosy authentic Italian restaurant. The staff are very polite and give you a warm welcome.
I have been to the restaurant many times before, and will certainly be back very soon.

Another lovely meal at Casa Romana - enjoyed the lamb ragout pasta! Will be back again soon. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing, food was fresh and hot and the service was outstanding. My friend had not been before and loved the whole experience and will definitely re book!

Lovely birthday meal at Casa Romana - lovely food, lovely staff and great company and atmosphere- will be back very. Soon - thank you

Another fantastic meal at Casa Romana, always guaranteed a great evening with great food!

This restaurant is a little gem. I always have a great meal here. Friendly atmosphere and great food. A great place to pop in for lunch or to book for an evening out. Arguably the best Italian restaurant in Leicestershire but then I haven't tried them all as this is so good!

Friendly staff with good service and a great menu with plenty of options. I'll definitely go back!

Excellent food and a great welcome

Food was very good and so was the service

The food was lovely! The lady who served us was really nice, the atmosphere was great as it was busy and the place was really cosy!

Busy with a good atmosphere. Service was excellent at Casa Romana and both my parma ham and melon penne salmone were very tasty. Decent value and consistently good although having the table under the speaker playing music was a bit of a distraction.

The meal was great, cooked vey well the place it's self is very relaxing and the host is a great charatacer. The only negative was the wait for the table over an hour past our booked time. But they do not rush you which is very nice so you can't have everything can you. Would I go again YES it's about our fourth time.

We received a warm and friendly welcome. The environment was pleasant and lively and the food was excellent. The service was very good.

Very enjoyable evening and good food at Casa Romana!

Lovely food, service and experience. 2nd visit in 2 weeks. If you want authentic Italian food without all the trappings of the "chain" restaurants Casa Romana is well worth a visit.

Excellent food and service, good value and very friendly! Would definately go back.

Another excellent visit to Casa Romana, cannot fault this place, always delivers excellent food and a wonderful ambiance!

We went to Casa Romana on Sat 5th March with two other couples, and had a fab night! The food was delicious, service great and atmosphere was buzzing. Thanks all, we loved it!

The food is always excellent at this very friendly cosy little restaurant and I'm looking forward to my next visit!

As always first class food and very comfortable atmosphere with good service.

The food was delicious at Casa Romana and was served in good time, good portions and the staff were friendly and efficient. Second visit, will definitely be going again!

Very good, I would certainly take clients and family alike!

Excellent meal, as usual. Great for having an early meal before going to the Little Theatre.

Lovely starter of garlic mushrooms. Main course of chicken arrabiata tasty but hard pushed to find chicken. The small amount was mainly gristle, disappointing because lovely place and atmosphere. Won't be put off returning though, wish I'd complained and given chef chance to put it right.

Absolutely lovely service food was beautiful and the portions were excellent. House wine was really nice and the atmosphere of the whole place was amazing would definitely recommend to friends and family.

We say…

Known as the oldest Italian restaurant in Leicester, Casa Romana on Albion Street serves authentic Italian food in a traditionally decorated venue. With an extensive and affordable menu, it is a superb place for both enthusiasts and first-timers of Italian cuisine.

This style of dining room benefits from traditional décor which complements the menu perfectly. The quaint wooden furnishings and beautiful Italian artwork gives guests the sense of being within a conventional family dining room. There is also an upstairs dining area that is perfect for intimate meals, and an outside space for those who wish to dine al fresco in the warm summer months.

Casa Romana offers a beautifully traditional menu with a variety of pastas, fish, chicken, veal and meat -based dishes. Some of the restaurant’s highly recommended dishes include the Spaghetti Salsa Gamberi served with prawns and garlic, a touch of cream and tomatoes; Pollo ‘Chicken’ Finanzieria sautéed in butter with onions, peas, brandy, marsala and cream; and Escalope of Veal cooked in a Pizzaiola sauce of tomatoes and oregano. Those who love seafood will be thrilled to know that Casa Romana offer fabulously fresh fish direct from the daily market including turbot, halibut, sea bass, monk fish and dover sole. All fish can be served on or off the bone, with a sauce or on its own with all the flavour of the sea.

Casa Romana is able to cater to a number of party sizes, making it ideal if you are looking to celebrate within homely and humble surroundings. The cosy upstairs area is perfect for an intimate gathering, while the main dining room can seat up to 60 people for a larger get-together.
