We say…

Nottingham’s original Caribbean paradise, just up from the castle.

Jamaican born and bred chefs cook up a storm at Caribe by remaining loyal to the spices, seasonings and staple ingredients like mutton, goat and ackee that have seen their dishes pass from one generation to the next.

To get a feel for the straight up authenticity at Caribé, you need look no further than the menu, where the dish descriptions themselves are a fantastic lesson in Jamaican dialect. A favourite of ours is the line ‘Dis wi mekyulik yu finga!’ in reference to ‘Caribé’s Infamous Jerk Chicken’.

Personality aside, Clinton and Olive go to great efforts to make their food available to everyone, serving an extensive, fully vegan menu separately from their main menu which provides a brilliant range of dishes for gluten-free diners, too.

One of the many stars on this ‘Veganeti’ menu is Dad’s Ital Stew Pot which, according to the menu is ‘how true Rastafarians do it back home’. Ital is a Rastafarian cooking approach which avoids using processed ingredients, additives and excessive oil, salt and sugar. Perfect for anyone keeps tabs on their health.

The restaurant itself brings an island-vibe with soft lighting and bold colours. For a taste of sunshine on even the dreariest of days, you won’t be disappointed by a visit to Caribé. Book your table today.
