The Dome is a gorgeous feat of engineering, with a curved 560 ton domed roof, and it’s easily one of Derbyshire’s most beautiful and recognisable landmarks. Although it dates from the late 18th century, the building now houses a campus for the University of Derby and Buxton College.

This fine dining establishment itself is actually a part of thw University of Derby’s training for their catering and hospitality degree students. Under the careful eyes of tutors and lecturers, the talented young chefs create amazing dishes from fresh, local ingredients. The menu is ever-changing, but expect to find delicacies like herb-crusted rack of lamb and roast guinea fowl, all excellently executed.

You might need to head 0.17 miles away from the Dome, but you’ll find the trip to Elements well worth the effort! This restaurant is situated in the airy, elegant conservatory of the magnificent Lee Wood Hotel. You’ll love the wide variety of classic British dishes, from steak and ale pie, to Taddington lamb cutlets, so make sure you tuck in when visiting this perfect setting. Make sure you book, though, as it can get busy with both tourists and locals!
