Rutland might be a little on the smaller side, but that certainly doesn’t mean it’s lacking in Christmas cheer! This year, Rutland’s offering an array of exciting events that are perfect for families, friends and couples alike.

Burghley House Christmas Fayre

If you’ve still got Christmas presents to buy, this is a fantastic choice, with an abundance of wonderful gifts on offer from plenty of different stallholders. Day plan: Head to this Christmas market on Sunday and soak up the beautiful surroundings, taking a stroll through the nearby countryside once you’ve grabbed your gifts. All that shopping and walking uses up energy, so refuel at the nearby Oak Panelled Restaurant with a fantastic Sunday roast. This might be a little out of the way, but it’s well worth the travel if you’re looking for something exciting to do with the family. Christmas lights glisten as the little one’s visit Santa’s impressive grotto. With loads of fun rides alongside this, the whole family are sure to have a fabulous time. To find out more, click here.

Day plan: Make the most of your entry and spend the day in the bustling theme park after you’ve taken the kids to see Santa. Finish your festive day with a delicious meal at Stapleford Park Restaurant for a fantastic ending to magical day. (Even if you don’t head to Twinlakes, this restaurant is well worth the extra travel, as it’s surrounded by beautiful countryside).

A Christmas Carol

Absolutely perfect for adults and youngsters alike is Stamford Arts Centre’s performance of A Christmas Carol. Filled with festive cheer, this performance of a classic tale is sure to get anyone excited for Christmas. Performed from 6th November 2014 to 8th November 2014, this is the perfect way to kick off the festive season. (Buy tickets here)
