An outside terrace covered in vines and strung with lights provides a wonderful atmosphere and an outside view that is ideal for relaxing on the longer summer nights yet cosy and sparkling in the winter months that lead up to Christmas.
Well known for its excellent friendly service and beautiful authentic Spanish food, El Bareto in Leeds has an extensive tapas menu and a range of hand selected Spanish wines and beers. However, you may prefer a jug of special recipe Sangria to really get you in the mood. Spanish food is all about fun and lively conversation with a procession of delicious morsels arriving at intervals; the tapas way is about sharing, but the dishes are designed to be enjoyed slowly throughout the course of an evening. In Spain, the custom is to visit many bars that serve tapas, with each one having its own speciality dish.
To begin with there are many little dishes of olives, delicately salted anchovies, cheeses and cured meats to savour before you choose from the extensive list of Spanish specialities. Potatoes are very popular and come in a range of spices and sauces. Omelette, or Tortilla, is served in thick wedges and come with a variety of delectable fillings. Spanish Tortilla is so much more than an omelette, with a unique taste and texture that will surprise you with its depth. There is an assortment of toppings on toasted bread; very similar to bruschetta they are crisp and moreish with the flavour of olive oil, garlic and assorted fresh flavours. Croquettes are a speciality of Spain and at El Bareto they come with the sweet fire of jalapeno pepper. Crisp, creamy and full of flavour, you won’t be able to stop at one.
The menu also includes a selection of meat dishes such as duck with caramelised onions, a choice of seafood and also popular platters of Paella for sharing. A huge mound of savoury rice, fragrant with the unmistakeable scent of saffron and simply bursting with meat, chicken and seafood, good paella is truly a wonderful thing.
