Modern British food in a charming stone cottage
In the picturesque village of Navenby in Lincolnshire, on the High Street, you will come to Macy’s Brasserie; a surprisingly accomplished restaurant within a charming stone cottage. The spacious well-lit interior is homely; a neutral background overlaid with tons of personality. Large windows overlook the pretty garden patio and the light shines onto the polished pine floors. A comfy lounge area is dominated by squishy sofas; magazines on the coffee table and books on the shelves add to the welcoming homely feel.
The menu is Modern British with a European influence, full of inventive dishes created lovingly form local produce and years of experience. For starter you could have mini goats cheese and rosemary scones or chicken liver parfait with brioche toast and fig and blackcurrant chutney. There are fresh Scottish oysters on offer as well as mackerel fillet with beetroot and apple, and horseradish ice cream.
For main course the dishes could include Roquefort roulade with caramelised red onions, pear and walnut salad, and thyme sauté potatoes. Breast of wild Lincolnshire pheasant is served with pearl barley and chestnut risotto, roast shallots and whiskey cream whilst Mrs Macy’s steak kidney and ale pie with creamed potatoes and autumn vegetables is sure to please any palette. For dessert there are choices such as apple, pear and cinnamon crumble with crème anglais, pear frangipane with chocolate cream, or hazelnut pannacotta with vanilla tuile and Baileys ice cream.
