The small market town of Grantham is full of historical interest and plenty of things to do. With superb transport links and a diverse range of restaurants Grantham is an ideal part of Lincolnshire to visit in search of an enjoyable meal. On London Road in Grantham is one of the most popular Indian restaurants in Lincolnshire; with its extensive menu of excellent food and vibrant interiors, Bindi deserves every accolade it receives.
Striking in fuschia, silver and charcoal, Bindi is modern yet elegant with a luxurious feel. Charcoal linen on the tables matches the upholstered dining chairs and adds an air of formality with a contemporary touch whilst the windows are thoughtfully dressed with blinds and floral arrangements. Carved wooden mirrors create striking contrast against the metallic feature walls; a modern print in fuschia and silver that is softened by the wood. Everything here is immaculate and in its place, right down to the pristine white ceilings that echo the space and ornate lighting that adds a touch of fairytale magic.
A range of interesting Indian specialties
The menu has all the familiar curry and tandoor dishes, with many additions of their own. At the bottom of the menu, and I must quote this as it is the best thing I have seen on a menu in a long time, it says ‘If you would like to try something out of the norm please ask the staff who will try to assist where possible, if not collar Mohammed who will be eager to assist’. If that isn’t a gauntlet, then I don’t know what is.
If you don’t feel quite up to collaring Mohammed then you could start with the mixed platter of starters that includes: onion bhaji, chicken chatt, tandoori prawns, seekh kebab, lamb tikka, chicken tikka and meat samosas. You could also order in advance, and enjoy a whole leg of lamb that has been marinated in spicy yoghurt and slow roasted for 4 hours and is apparently enough for 2 to 4 people.
The main courses include a wide range of alternatives from the usual korma or madras, with dishes such as achari bahar; tandoor chicken or lamb with spicy sauce and pickled Indian fruit. Other specials include egg bhuna, or naaga chicken; a dish of boneless chicken with deep fried chillies, tamarind, garlic, ginger and fresh cream. There is also a wide selection of breads, rice dishes and vegetable side dishes (which are all available as mains).
