Northampton Christmas Guide 2014

Even if you’re not feeling festive, Christmas is just round the corner! It’s great to start thinking about what you might get up to when the time comes as many things pack out quick! Here’s a collection of some of our favourite things happening in Northampton over Christmas 2014.

Xmas Craft Fayre @ The Marriot Hotel – 2nd November 2014

Gather round on the 2nd November 2014 for an early Christmas treat at the Xmas Craft Fayre. Held at the Marriot Hotel, there will be over 40 stalls of arts, crafts and handmade goodies from a huge range of independent businesses and craft-lovers. It’s the perfect place to grab some unique and truly special Christmas gifts, decorations and cards ahead of the big day, and there promises to be a bustling atmosphere with lots to do!

If you’re feeling peckish after browsing the Fayre, the Marriot Hotel’s very own restaurant, the 1460 Grill has a wonderful menu available and is the ideal place to stop for some great food. If you fancy something a little different, The Dining Room is only a mile away and has a wonderful Afternoon Tea menu, perfect for ending the day with something quaint and delicious! Make sure you book in advance though, it’s the busiest time of the year.

Peter Pan @ Royal and Derngate – 5th December 2014 until 4th January 2015

Love it or hate it, it’s the ideal place to take the entire family around Christmas time. This year’s star-studded pantomime includes Alex Giannini, treasured pantomime dame Ceri Dupree and the ever fantastic Joe Pasquale. With promises of old jokes, pirates, a ton of surprises and lots of festive cheer, there’s nothing quite like pantomime at Christmas.

Don’t stop there – make a day of it. Not even a mile away is Papa Cino’s, a great rustic Italian with an informal, personable feel, serving excellent food with affordable prices. Saffron is also nearby, and with your pantomime tickets you’ll also qualify for 20% off your meal when you book online with Go dine!

Northampton Frost Fair @ Market Square – 28th November 2014 and 5th December 2014

Once the Frost Fair comes, you know it’s really Christmas time. On Sunday 28th November, be transported to a winter wonderland with Northampton’s favourite Christmas market offering a whole host of arts, crafts, ceramics, handmade jewelry, decorations and plenty of street entertainers to keep the party atmosphere going. There’s free parking in the Mayorhold too, absolutely ideal for all that shopping!

Drop your bags off in the car and wind down with a relaxing meal at Oriental Garden on Sheep Street, serving fantastic Chinese food in an attractive, relaxing environment.

If you prefer something a little different, Le Sacrebleu is a great French restaurant with a truly top rating – try out their 3 course Christmas dinner for just £22.50. It’s best to book online in advance though, as it books up fast in the festive season.
