Not your usual taverna style Mediterranean joint, Yamas is slick and stylish with a contemporary feel that still holds on to its Mediterranean roots.

Go Greek for your office Christmas party

The Christmas meze menu is available throughout December for parties of 8 or more; don’t worry if you aren’t part of a big group though as Yamas is still serving their extensive a la carte menu. The standard Christmas meze menu features a procession of dishes that begins with tzatziki and hummus alongside potato with beetroot salad and antipasto misto; a platter of cold meats. All served with warm pita they get everyone sharing and the meal off to a flying start.

Next there is a sharing seafood platter of hot and cold fresh fish dishes and spanokopita; the classic feta and spinach pastries. Also included is Kritharaki, a dish of rice pasta with beef and tomatoes topped with melted cheese, grilled halloumi cheese and smoked pork loin, as well as succulent grilled chicken skewers, a dish of baked lamb and potatoes and a big Greek salad. The perfect way to eat, a Greek meze gets everyone in the party mood and keeps the wine, and possibly a little ouzo, flowing.

Yamas also offer a completely vegetarian Christmas meze, which offers a large platter of mushroom risotto instead of a seafood platter and Yoretski, a vegetable version of the rice pasta dish. Instead of grilled meat and baked lamb there are mushrooms with halloumi and herbs as well as chickpeas cooked with spinach. It isn’t always easy eating out as a vegetarian, and very rarely is it actually exciting, so choosing Greek cuisine with its vibrant flavours and choice of fresh vegetables is often a good idea.
