On the High Street in Harrington, Northamptonshire, you will find the Tollemache Arms. A beautiful whitewashed country pub with a thatched roof and cottage garden, The Tollemache Arms invites you inside from the cold with its traditional English pub interiors of exposed stone walls and roaring log fire.
They are offering a number of Christmas menus over the festive period, starting with the Christmas Fayre menu that runs from the 29th November to 11th January. Available as a 2 to 3 course lunch or dinner the menu offers traditional British food made from fine local ingredients.
Festive menus for a Christmas night out
For starter there is creamy winter vegetable soup with cranberries and rye bread or award winning local pate. For main course you may choose the traditional roast turkey dinner with all the trimmings or opt for the game cobbler made with local pheasant, hare, partridge and venison. Also on offer is local pork belly with a creamy herb sauce. Moving on to dessert you will find the traditional Christmas pudding or a dark chocolate and raspberry cheesecake.
The Tollemache Arms is open on Christmas Eve with a special menu that starts with chestnut and stilton salad or ham and brie leek parcels amongst the choices. There is no turkey or Christmas pudding here, in view of the main event on Christmas Day, so you can enjoy Northamptonshire beef wellington with Burgundy gravy or gourmet fish pie with scallops, king prawns, haddock and salmon in a rich creamy sauce. For dessert there is white chocolate and strawberry cheesecake, champagne sorbet or a classic cheeseboard.
Special Boxing Day menu
They are also offering a special Boxing Day menu that begins with breast of pigeon stuffed with Brie and served with redcurrant jelly or a platter of stilton mushrooms with brown bread and salad. Main course choices include roast rib of local beef, honey roast ham with potatoes and vegetables. or pork belly with game chips and spinach. Dessert is a selection from the trolley.
The New Year’s Eve celebrations are themed around the 80’s and promise a fun filled evening of food and dancing. If you overdo it then they are serving brunch on New Year’s Day from 11am to 1pm. Among the traditional English breakfast and eggs Benedict you will find a sirloin steak served with 2 fried eggs, or classic kippers.
