Thyme Restaurant in Derby for a Magical Winter Wonderland

Within the International Hotel Derby on Buxton Road is the Thyme Restaurant. A peaceful setting in gentle tones of green it effortlessly blends modern design with classic dining whilst providing the ideal place to enjoy great British food in Derby. In the run up to the festive season, it’s all about Christmas parties, kicking back a little, or perhaps thinking ahead to New Years Eve celebrations.

Christmas meal ideas in Derby

Thyme restaurant are offering a few Christmas meal ideas. Beginning with November 30th and then continuing every Friday and Saturday up until Christmas week, with an extra date on Sunday 22nd December, they are hosting a Magical Winter Wonderland with a snow filled evening of themed cocktails, a fabulous 3 course meal complete with crackers and after dinner games, and a snow disco. You don’t need to be a huge party to join in the fun, but you do need to book. If you want a large private Christmas party then the restaurant will be happy to accommodate you on the other nights of the week. As it is a hotel, why not consider making a night of it instead of trudging back out into the cold when you least feel like it.

Classic roast turkey and Christmas pudding

On the menu for the Magical Winter Wonderland there is, for starter, roasted butternut squash soup that is fast becoming a seasonal favourite or a seafood tian with marie rose sauce. For main course you can enjoy classic roast turkey with all the trimmings or braised Derbyshire blade of beef with horseradish jus. Fish and vegetarian options are also available. For dessert there is Christmas pudding and brandy sauce, or white chocolate cheesecake with sour cherry syrup, followed by the obligatory mince pies.

Open for lunch on Christmas Day

Thyme Restaurant is also open for Christmas Lunch, for those who family a celebration with family and friends without the stress of cooking and the mountain of dishes. Enjoy bucks fizz and canapés on arrival before a sumptuous five course festive feast; all with music, games and a present for the under 12s.

On the menu, you can start with pressed game terrine with plum and pear chutney and toasted brioche followed by a palate cleanser of champagne jelly, lemon sorbet and candied lemons. Main course is roast turkey of sirloin of beef with all the traditional accompaniments or there are vegetarian and fish options as well. For dessert you can go the traditional way with Christmas pudding or cheese and biscuits but if you prefer something a little unusual then there is chocolate torte with honeycomb and raspberries. Take your time because all of this is followed by coffee, petits fours and mince pies; well it just wouldn’t be Christmas without the mince pies would it.
