£20-£25

The Yeaveley Arms goes beyond pub food to provide creative Modern British food in an informal but traditional pub setting and they still provide classic favourite dishes and hearty portions. Their early bird menu is great value too, halving the price. In Derby’s city centre, the Fat Cat brings you great British food in a lively urban ambience with cocktails and a great vibe.

£25-£35

There are plenty of restaurants in this price range to choose from, so why not go for the ones with AA rosettes. Nat’s Kitchen in Buxton offers top class cuisine totally committed to local ingredients in understated and welcoming surroundings. Stone’s restaurant in Matlock is a tiny gem of a restaurant with an intimate atmosphere and beautifully executed Modern British cuisine. Opulence in Derby’s Cathedral Quarter lives up to its name with grand surroundings and fantastic food.

Even if this price range is slightly over your budget, check out the special set menus, tasting menus and lunch deals, as you can often come across fantastic deals that make this award-winning cuisine very affordable. £35-£45

If you can afford to eat out at this price range you are probably looking for something really special. Buckingham’s Hotel Restaurant offers a totally unique dining experience. Chef Nick Buckingham doesn’t produce a menu, but asks guests in advance for their likes and dislikes and creates a special meal every evening inspired by the best seasonal ingredients and guests’ preferences. Each meal is a wonderful surprise and totally unique. The Maynard, in Grindleford, with two AA rosettes, offers fine Modern British cuisine superbly executed.
