Situated in a beautiful location, excellent food and good service.

Food first class at Barnsdale Hall!

We had a table for 6. We had a most helpful waitress and enjoyed a relaxing few hours chatting through our three course meal and coffees. We would definitely come to the Barnsdale Hall restaurant again.

Pleasantly surprised by how good it all was - and the positive location, just a bit of a shame that the dining area didn't really make use of the available views

My husband booked a surprise stay here for our 10th wedding anniversary and it was a lovely treat. The views overlooking Rutland Water were breathtaking! We had a meal at the restaurant and it was wonderful. The service was attentive and friendly, and the food was cooked to perfection! I went for the fillet of beef and my husband had the rib eye steak. No complains at all!

Had a lovely meal with my husband - he had the roast rump of lamb and I had the smoked haddock fishcakes. We were both satisfied with the quality of food and the service provided.

Wonderful stay at Barnsdale Hotel. I regularly visit Rutland with the family and of all the hotels we've stayed out, Barnsdale tops the list! Dinner was so tasty, we wanted to stay an extra night just so we could re-visit the restaurant!

Great friendly helpful staff, lovely food, good presentation and a good selection of wines.

    Great again!

Amazing and attentive service. The food was freshly presented and tasted amazing. The Sunday carvery was also very good but would have been nice to see some parsnips on the menu!

We booked Afternoon Tea as a treat for our friends who were celebrating some exciting news. Booking was not straightforward, I emailed the Reception at Barnsdale twice and as I did not receive any reply, I used the 'Go Dine' link which arrnaged the booking within 10 minutes. Booking in went smoothly and the waitress was polite; we were early for our 2pm booking but she invited us to sit at our table to wait. The restaurant setting was beautiful and we were not rushed at any point. Tea and coffee was free-flowing and service was good. Our main disappointment was the imbalance of sandwiches and cakes (hence the rating of 8). There were four of us and we only had 3 and a half finger sandwiches each as we had to halve the remaining 'odd' two at the end. Fillings were tasty but out of the 14 sandwiches, 8 were egg, leaving 4 salmon and 2 cheese. It was a shame that we couldn't all sample each filling. There were plenty of cakes on the other hand, in fact we couldn't manage them all. The scones were particularly tasty as was the chocolate topped flapjack! Unfortunately, though, we received no explanation in regards to ingredients and had to guess what we were eating. Thankfully we didn't have anyone with a nut allery, but it would have been nice for this to be pointed out. The whole party enjoyed the afternoon and would certainly return. We would just appreciate a little more attention to detail in regards to the sandwiches and explanation of what we were about to eat. Otherwise well worth a trip, very good value.

Food was lovely, but the service could have been warmer.

A really wonderful meal, in great surroundings. Very attentive and friendly staff and brilliant value for money!

Everything about our visit to barnsdale hall was a success, the setting was beautiful and had a wonderful meal. Looking forward to our return visit.

This was our first visit to the Barnsdale Hall Hotel and hopefully it won't be our last. The food and service were good, but I was a little disappointed in the dining -room (no tablecloths, and the napkins were paper) Still it didn't spoil our visit and I would recommend this restaurant if asked.

Monday is not the best day but we were made to feel very welcome and the food was served well with out too much waiting. Very impressed, would visit again.

I went with my husband for a couple of nights and had an amazing and relaxing time. We spent a couple of days in area and loved the scenery and particularly being by Rultand water. The Hotel has great view over the water and on the 2nd night we tried the restaurant and dined in the conservatory. I have to say the service was excellent and very personable, (the lady remembered I liked herbal tea from the previous morning), and it made us feel welcome. The meal was a little more than we usually spend but worth every penny, my husbands pan fried seabass was beautifully soft. All in all £50 for 2 with a 2 course meal and a couple of drinks each...a great experience, thank you.
