An understated hidden gem of Northampton city, Balti Central is an attractive and contemporary restaurant with a colourful and classic colour scheme, relaxing and comfortable, ideal for groups of friends and celebrating special occasions. The décor is modern and stylish with a dash of cultural Indian charm, inviting an authentic and enjoyable atmosphere – a very enjoyable place to sample the excellent cuisine available.
The menu is extensive and expertly put together, including plenty of old Balti favourites alongside more innovative chef favourites and house specialities. To start, choose something delicious and light, such as Paneer Tikka, a dish of marinated Indian cottage cheese – a fantastic starter, particularly for vegetarians. For your main, choose a chef speciality such as a Sagar Bahar for a great dining experience, a dish made from king prawns and fish slices cooked with roasted garlic, onions and peppers to a medium heat. The Nawab is also a tasty and incredibly popular dish, mildly sauced with chunks of chicken tikka or lamb tikka, mixed with crunchy nuts and sultanas bursting with flavour. A fantastic option is also the Whole Tandoori Trout, a marinated whole trout wrapped in foil and cooked inside hot charcoal, served on a sizzling plate with fresh salad and chips. Something unique about Balti Central’s menu is the size of their nan bread, a huge and freshly baked homemade bread ideal for sharing as a table during your meal. There are extensive vegetarian options available at the restaurant too, and a menu of English dishes great for anyone looking for something a little closer to home.
