Ayubowan, a contemporary Sri Lankan restaurant in Glossop, Derbyshire, is the perfect place to go if you fancy a taste of something different. With dishes such as Sri Lankan Kothtu Roti, often served on street food markets in Sri Lanka, it’s a far cry from the local takeaway and that’s what keeps customers coming back for more.
The atmosphere is as warm and inviting as the food on the menu, and this is very much down to those who run it. There is an almost family-like vibe to the place, and this extends to those who choose to dine with them. The modern and spacious setting is perfect for big groups, and the success of this dining experience can be seen by the buffet nights they have recently introduced to the last Sunday of every month. It gives the customers a sample of any dish they are in the mood for, allowing them a taste of as much or as little of Sri Lankan cuisine as they want – but it will probably be the former judging by the dishes on offer.
They use traditional family recipes to make sure the food they serve is as authentic as possible, and offering dishes from their signature collection like the Ceylon Honey and Chilli Crusted Lamb Rack, they have succeeded in making customers happy. They also have a selection of appetizing desserts which make the same traditional promise.
