The food that we ordered was lovely. Some of the rooms were in a little need of maintenance, but you couldn't fault the service which was attentive and polite.

This is a beautiful building with lots of potential. Sadly, although the staff were great, there was no external lighting on a dark cold night, and the heating wasn't working at all. The food was okay, but what should have been a lovely evening in a fabulous location was spoilt by it being unheated on a freezing night. I had been really looking forward to the meal after seeing the house online, so it was very disappointing. The staff were great, however, and did all they could. Exiting the building down steps with no lighting afterwards was also worrying!

My husband and I had the 2 course lunch last Saturday at Cockliffe House! The service and food was excellent, but it was SO cold in the restaurant!

Food good, spoiled by the fact the restaurant had no heating on & actually ate with our coats on.
No one in the resturant apart from ourselves.
This was supposedly a Christmas lunch, however no festive decorations in the restaurant or on the table. We were extremely disappointed as we previously had a Christmas lunch here before & that experience was far superior

Nice food and surroundings however décor is tired and carpets dirty , met at the door by three staff and a clipboard! Whilst I accept it was a Mothers Day Lunch and it would be busy it felt like we were at a business conference. Service was pleasant but slow and the restaurant etiquette wasn't very good -e.g side plates and empty glasses left on table throughout the meal . Staff were pleasant but inexperienced

For the price, food was really good but only 4 out of 5 of us enjoyed it. Some back of house decorations and carpets need a bit of attention.

Every thing was excellent, food delicious, staff very attentive, we have booked again. Good value!

Excellent value for money. What a lovely gesture for the waitress who incorrectly did not order me a rib eye steak but another type was served. She came and apologised herself and the steak was then given to me complimentary. Full marks to the honesty of the staff. Lovely setting.

Disappointing food! We dined here for Mothering Sunday and my mum ordered the Beef which was sadly very fatty and tough. I did mention this to a member of staff who gave us a bottle of wine at the end of the meal as a gesture of good will. However I explained that we didn't drink alcohol and he took the wine back! Overall not the level of service/food we expected for such a beautiful location.

The place is very elegant and i love visiting. The only thing i would say that is negative is we were served too quickly and the food isnt always to my taste, making my choice of menu limited.

Country House Hotel restaurant for a quiet getaway. Food is traditional but well cooked.

Very relaxed and friendly atmosphere whilst retaining a certain respect for the diner. Service was excellent as was the food. All in all, a very pleasant experience I would gladly repeat.

Excellent food and service. Would highly recommend this restaurant. The attention to detail was great. Will certainly return here.

The meal was exquisite and at a reasonable price too. Highly recommended

fantastic little restaurant, staff attentive and great value early bird menu. What else can I say! Might stay in the hotel one day in the future - looks really nice.

Cockliffe House is a gorgeous venue that serves excellent food. The service has always attentive, but occasionally a little scatty. Definitely worth a try though!

A small country hotel restaurant with a welcoming service. Excellent pre theatre meal area to consider - the menu and have pre meal drinks. Quiet restaurant however if busy tables would be very close together. Early bird meal is excellent value and you are not treated differently - thus getting excellent service. Would recommend for a special meal.

Opted for the Early Evening menu. Excellent value and the food was top notch. Service was to a very high standard, both bar and waiting staff very personable. I would recommend a trip to Cockliffe if you are looking to try something different outside of the city centre.

Stunning restaurant and the grounds are heavenly. The food was very good and I would certainly recommend as a dining experience, particuarly if you enjoy eating out of the city centre.
