We say…

Situated on Uttoxeter New Road, just outside of Derby city centre, the renowned Indian restaurant, Balti International, serves all the classics and many specialities besides. Established in 2003, it has become a go-to address for locals in search of high quality and speciality dishes without the ‘special occasion’ price tag.

Smooth and curved lines are combined with leather upholstery to create stylish interior, which is bathed in a colourful lighting palette of purples, pinks and blues. The 100 capacity restaurant has open social spaces, secluded corners and a private function room seats 30; the options for entertaining are endless, whatever style of evening you have in mind. Friendly and attentive, the team at Balti International is more than happy to advise on the many dishes offered by the kitchen.

The extensive menu at Balti International features all of the classic dishes alongside an enticing range of Balti and Tandoori specialities and Chef’s specials. Begin your evening with popadoms and pickles and a selection from the appetisers menu, such as samosas, bhajees and puris, available with or without meat. We’d love to try the mint lamb tikka! Whatever your palate's preference, be it mild and aromatic or hot and dry, you’re sure to find your ideal main course dish. The menu features the classic kormas, bhunas and Vindaloos, or why not try a chef’s special of lamb masala, the hot rezzellas and aromatic chesnis. Vegetarians who can handle the heat should opt for the chilli paneer karahi, whilst those with a milder palate may prefer the paneer achari masala.

A dining experience at Balti International is an opportunity to try a traditional speciality dish at a fantastic price. Ginger and garlic form the basis of many of these specialities, such as the traditional Punjabi Lamb Al-Mashiki, and the house special of Karahi and the Murgh Jalfrezi will catch the eye of meat lovers. Fans of tandoori will delight in the variety and quanitity of meats available; lamb, chicken, prawns and mixed grills are marinated in herbs and spices before being authentically barbecued over charcoal and served with mint sauce and salad. The choice of accompaniments is equally extensive: vegetable sides include saag alooo and achari aubergines. Mushroom fried, Jeera (cumin) and lemon rice could add a special touch to your meal alongside a vegetable stuffed or chicken tikka nan.

With its diverse and adventurous menu, versatile restaurant layout and the opportunity to bring your own alcohol, Balti International is a sure choice for celebrations and gatherings of every shape and size.
