    The food was very good. Service excellent with very good knowledge about the dishes.

    The restaurant was nearly empty when we arrived, so were greeted and seated promptly. The waiter was extremely attentive and polite. Courses came quickly and we all ate everything, even though portions were generous. House wine was good value for the price. All tables became taken while we ate, though the quality of service barely dropped. Overall a great evening.

    Fantastic meal yet again. The cured meat sharing starter was just superb! Excellent house red and my partner said his rabbit melted in the mouth. Attentive staff without being over the top. Highly recommended a visit.

    4 of us enjoyed a lovely freshly cooked Mediterranean meal recently here. Tuesday night is a refreshingly tranquil opportunity so we could enjoy each other’s company and conversation without the weekend bustle.

    He can cook! And some nice individual touches like fresh mint on the edges of the superbly fresh grilled tuna.

    Nice atmosphere good service and as always delicious food.

    The food was excellent but we had booked for 8pm and didn’t get our dinner until gone 10pm! Which we all agreed was just far too long a wait.


    Food was good. Service was slow. Waited 1hr 30 mins for our main course with the waiter coming to the table every 20 mins or so saying it would be with us shortly. Also menu is misleading indicating that fresh vegetables were provided with most main courses. We didn't get any. Will probably return but really have to tighten up on speed of service and menu accuracy

    Love this restaurant as the food is fresh, healthy and very tasty! The service is always excellent and the restaurant has a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. I also like how the chef always makes the effort to chat to the customers to check how the food was like a more traditional authentic restaurant abroad.

    Food was superb. Varied menu and given the quality good value for money. This was our second time but first was maybe 3 years ago. We will be back soon.

    A bit noisy but that was the fault of other diners squawking and I don’t think you could muffle the sound ..... you wouldn’t want to instal a carpet and padded curtains.

    The food was lovely; better than it read on the Christmas Day menu to be honest. It was the best fillet steak that I have eaten in this country, and there was so much of it that I had to take some home for the next day. The lemon ice cream dessert was also to die for. Ordered it because I'd paid for it, and ended up scraping the bowl.

    Akentannos Fillet steak was one of the nicest steaks I have ever had such a beautiful sauce. Great service and fab menu we will be back. Thanks

A full visit to Akentannos will see you sample the finest Sardinian produce cheeses, hams, olives and wines. 

The style of dining is traditionally Mediterranean with plenty of small plates and starters giving way to filling pastas and risottos with hearty meat dishes and plenty of seafood on the menu, too.

Owners Mario and Giovanna are passionate about sharing their native cuisine with the world, not least because it is regularly pointed to as the reason for the higher-than-average life expectancy enjoyed by Sardinia’s small island population.

When not importing goods directly from Sardinia, Mario and Giovanna take care to source their ingredients from local suppliers wherever possible.

Akentannos is on Sharrow Vale Road, just behind the bustling thoroughfare of Ecclesall Road.
