Restaurant Zest in Derby
Restaurant Zest is located just off Friar Gate on George Street in a lovingly transformed former stables building. The dining room is beautifully decorated with exposed beams, warm colours, and in the evening candle light, which makes for an intimate and memorable venue.
The restaurant aims to provide fine dining in comfortable surroundings, where diners are assured of top class cuisine in an unpretentious and relaxed style.
Contemporary European cuisine welcomes diners and the local produce is used throughout the menu in a well executed manner. Dishes such as Pancetta wrapped Chicken Breast with a walnut and parmesan stuffing, and for vegetarian diners Wild Mushroom Millefeuille with cream and chive sauce are a sure bet.
With express lunch menus allowing diners to have 3 thoughtfully created dishes for £11.95, or 2 courses for £9.95, and be back in the office or shopping within an hour, Restaurant Zest is an excellent choice.

The service at this establishment was superb, with a polite but informal feel, which instantly made us both feel at ease. The food was fresh, seasonal and (for my choice) very average. My wife enjoyed the 'Summer squash soup' followed by 'Toad-in-the-Hole' which she gave an overall 8/10 for flavour and presentation whilst I selected the 'Stilton cheese dumplings' followed by 'Roast Stuffed Chicken' which was well presented but fairly bland, I'd award a 4/10 overall for my selection.
In summary, I'd recommend this restaurant for fresh but uninspiring food. I may return if the menu exhibited slightly more adventurous options.

Got to be one the best I've been to in Derby, was a little hard to find at first but were made to feel welcome and the food was every bit as enjoyable as the surroundings.
