Situated right next to the train station is Time; a bar and restaurant that forms part of the Steamin’ Billy Pub group. Its close proximity to the train station means that on a Friday afternoon it is incredibly popular with commuters and visitors who drop in for a quick bite to eat pre or post travel.

Founded in 1995, owner Bill Allingham has recently refurbished the venue, creating a bright, airy and minimalist bar and restaurant. The wall opposite the bar is lined with comfortable booth seating that offers a perfect vantage point to observe everything going on in the bar as well as soaking up the atmosphere. Diners and drinkers also benefit from an al fresco area that backs out on to one of the side streets, ideal in the summer for enjoying the sunshine and an ice cold cocktail.

Reputed as Leicestershire’s first dedicated cocktail bar, Time offers a huge range of quality cocktails and fine ales for their customers to sample. Time run a host of special offers including vodka tasting, cocktail master classes and live music nights that are not to be missed. As much as Time is about the drinking, it also offers a fantastic menu that is available throughout the day.

Bill is an avid fan of local produce and they often purchase fine meat and vegetables direct from Leicestershire farmers to create the fantastic dishes on the menu. Diners are able to choose from a good selection of British mains and burgers as well as sandwiches and light bites with a few world options thrown in for good measure.

The venue is flexible and fantastically decorated to make any such event special whether you are looking to host a corporate function, wedding, birthday party or summer event in Time’s garden at the rear. There is a room available for private hire that can accommodate up to 150 people and the team at Time are on hand to help you make your night one to remember.

Time Bar Leicester is a great place for groups to enjoy a fabulous range of foods and superbly made cocktails. It is a popular venue and therefore if you’re planning to go on a weekend, booking is highly recommended.

This was my first visit and it wont be my last. The meal was lovely, my sister and I both had the chicken with applewood and chilli which was cooked beautifully, definitely worth trying and very good value. I look forward to my next visit.

Overall

Not easy to find access by car. The one-way systems around the area are complicated and carparking is not clearly evident. From the busy road system you are not easy to spot from a moving vehicle. Otherwise very useful pre-theatre venue.
