We say…

Situated just a ten minute drive from Leeds rail station, the Alea Casino is close to the city centre, making it the ideal place to start, or end, an evening. The Leeds Kitchen is the newest addition to the dining options at Alea Leeds that not only offers delicious British cuisine with a twist, but a celebrity chef to go with it.

The Leeds Kitchen is run by celebrity chef James Martin, most renowned for his cookery show on BBC1, The Saturday Kitchen. This restaurant offers diners sophistication and elegance with chrome, black and cream as the dominant colours. This is occasionally interjected with a hint of Alea’s classic purple but the monochrome is the main feature and it is stunning. The tables are laid simply using some of James Martin’s own collection of dinner ware and the walls are adorned with unique pieces of artwork, making The Leeds Kitchen a wonderful place to dine. The restaurant only allows guests over the age of 18, meaning that it is a grown up dining experience that should be savoured.

The menu is classic British, with a twist and is packed full of fresh, seasonal flavours that complement each other perfectly. To start, dishes such as Fresh Whitby Crab risotto with kaffir lime leaf and lemongrass, and pressed game terrine with Port and cranberry chutney will entice your taste buds. The mains showcase a whole host of ingredients and you won’t be able to resist dishes such as the roast duck three ways with a soured orange sauce, slow cooked feather blade of beef bourguignon, or the plaice on the bone with shrimps, spiced English butter, pea shoots and lemon flowers. The execution of each dish is absolutely perfect and you will never leave disappointed. There is a comprehensive wine list on offer with wines to match each dish and a good range of spirits, beers and soft drinks to enjoy in the bar area or with your meal.

The Leeds Kitchen at the Alea Casino is a stunning venue that must be experienced. Start your night off here before heading into the casino or into Leeds city centre, either way, James Martin and his team will ensure that you have a memorable evening.

    Overall:

Had a lovely meal here last week. Portions are a good size considering the celebrity name above the door which means you usually get tiny amounts. The Basil Panacotta was absolutely delicious and I'm looking forwards to going again once they have the new season menus.
