We booked a meal for a friends birthday and sat in the conservatory room.
The staff were very polite and helpful.
The menu catered for all with a lot of choice, the difficulty being what to choose! Will just have to visit again to try the other dishes!
All of the meals ordered between our group were lovely, and all agreed that we should visit again soon.
The portions were of a good size and the food was excellent and great value for money.
Will definitely be booking again soon

Went to the Blacksmiths Arms with another couple, we had 2 Camembert sharers for starters, mine with GF bread, was really nice. The mains were a burger, very good and filling, duck, which was the best duck ever tasted. The seafood chowder was very tasty and the steak was great. The staff were on the ball, and the atmosphere was just right. We will all be definitely going back soon!

Unfortunately our meal was somewhat spoilt from being tucked away, upstairs and next to the radiator. There were plenty of free tables in nicer areas which weren't offered to us. We weren't walk ins, having booked a week previously and I would have hoped for a better experience. The food was lovely but what could have been a super first visit will probably be our last. Some thought needs to go into front of house service and placement of customers if they want happy returners.

Really warm welcome, excellent service & delicious food beautifully presented. Our party of 15 people all enjoyed the food & the surroundings.

We had a really lovely evening at the Blacksmiths Arms yesterday. The staff were friendly and efficient, the service was great, and we were all really impressed with the food. Would definitely recommend to others, and we will return.

Excellent food and good service at the Blacksmith's Arms. Very modern and very clean. Staff very friendly. Would definitely go back!

The Blacksmiths has a lovely relaxed and friendly atmosphere and very up to date and comfortable rooms to eat and drink in. Staff very friendly and attentive but not hovering over you as they can in some of the good restaurants locally. Food absolutely gorgeous and plenty of choice in starters, main and sweet menu. Highly recommend.

Fabulous meal and great service. Slightly disappointed that we were kept waiting for over an hour to be seated at table, but put that down to a very busy night. Would definitely book again.

Went for Sunday dinner, made very welcome straight from the start, lovely place, service brilliant, food excellent, will definitely be going back!

We all enjoyed our meals and it is possible to get a main and pud for £14. The waitresses were friendly and timing was excellent. I am coeliac and gluten free options were available for many dishes. I was disappionted with the gf biscuit that came with my delicious rhubarb pud. It was a very bog standard digestive. There are much more fancy gf bisciuts they could have bought or made to complement the dessert. The music was too loud and on repeat, which did make it tricky to concentrate at times. The waitresses applogised for this as they had noticed too. So I'm guessing this isn't the norm. I am looking forward to returning. The food was excellent; plenty of it and carefully presented.

Our party of 6 had Sunday lunch at the Blacksmiths Arms and the entire experience was lovely! The food and service both excellent!

I have different dishes each time I go. Have never been disappointed. Amazing food, excellent wines and lovely staff.

Lovely food - great atmosphere and fab service.

An interesting and well crafted menu. The food was excellent and the service attentive if less than top class.

A very interesting menu and well prepared food. Good service contributed to a great evening!

One of the best Sunday dinners we have had. Great food and lovely service. highly recommended and will definitely will be going again.

    Excellent in all respects.

All spot on as usual. Thank you

    Excellent Evening

Excellent and surprising little venue! Staff very friendly and accommodating, will definitely visit again.

The food was awesome at the Blacksmith's. As I am allergic to wheat flour and cows milk it was so refreshing to be able to order what I wanted and it not be a problem. The flavour and portion sizes were spot on and I would definitely recommend this restaurant to friends going forward.

Excellent food and service at the Blacksmith's. We were made to feel comfortable from start to finish, will definitely return.

We had a lovely night at the Blacksmith's Arms, the food was impeccable, service was polite and friendly the atmosphere was terrific. We will definitely be going back again.

Really delicious Sunday lunch at The Blacksmiths Arms and so much food - we couldn't manage dessert (not like us!). The children's portions are also huge!

The food was wonderful with great flavour combinations in a classy but uncomplicated style. The service was efficient and friendly!

We say…

Conveniently located a short drive from both Loughborough and Leicester city, the Blacksmiths Arms is situated in the picturesque village of Barrow upon Soar, and is a fantastic restaurant with an expert focus on brilliant food and customer service. Known for their relaxed yet professional standard of service and a friendly, warm atmosphere, the Blacksmiths Arms is a very popular restaurant with many loyal customers.

The building was originally built in 1753 and has since been restored and refurbished to the finest of standards, creating a beautiful place to dine and relax. The restaurant is bright and contemporary, taking influence from the original features of the building and extending to a recently built conservatory dining area, complete with sweeping windows and exposed beam ceilings, making the most of the natural light available. Wooden features and furniture give the restaurant a charming rustic feel, and the modern colours and furnishing make the Blacksmiths Arms a wonderful place to visit with all the family.

A seasonal menu, the meals on offer regularly change to reflect ingredients available, all freshly sourced from local suppliers of the highest quality. The focus of the Blacksmiths Arms is high quality, homemade food, so you can be sure that everything on the menu has been lovingly crafted by their own dedicated chefs. Choose from a wonderful array of classic English dishes and world inspired meals, for example a fillet of succulent pork, served with burnt apple puree, black pudding potato croquet, savoy cabbage and a smoked bacon and cream, topped with a mustard jus. For something a little different, try the Moroccan style vegetable tagine, giant cous cous, freshly baked flatbread, a butternut and tahini dip and aubergine puree.  Choose one of many stunning homemade desserts to finish, such as the carrot and walnut cake, served with stem ginger ice cream and a carrot and star anise puree.

A stunning restaurant serving excellent food cooked by expert chefs, the Blacksmiths Arms, Leicester is a wonderful place to choose for your lunchtime or evening meal, regardless of the occasion.
