Thailand No.1 is situated in the centre of Nottingham close to the trendy Lace Market. Located on Carlton Street, opposite Lloyds No.1 Bar and close to Cape bar and restaurant. Its central location means that you are never more than a few minutes’ walk from some of Nottingham’s most popular nightspots, shopping areas and tourist attractions.
This venue is incredibly easy to spot with its vivid purple frontage, drawing customers in like moths to a flame. As a recent addition to Nottingham’s restaurant scene, the interior is modern and bright and banishes dark dining environments to the past. The dining room is lit in a whole host of colours, with purple being a dominant shade throughout. This bathes the dining room is a warm, ethereal glow. There are several dining rooms in the restaurant, each is designed slightly differently but with the same high standards. Textured wallpaper and gentle lighting ties every room together. There is an additional, luxurious, private banqueting suite that can seat up to 50 people and adds a real sense of occasion to any celebration.
The menu is full of authentically cooked and prepared Thai dishes. You will, of course, find popular dishes such as the Gaeng Kiew Waan; Thai Green Curry with a choice of mixed seasonal vegetables, chicken, beef, pork or king prawns. However, the Chef’s Specialities are where you will find stunning, original Thai flavours. This section of the menu features dishes such as Tom Yam Goong; a popular hot and sour soup flavoured with lemongrass, lime leaves, lemon juice and fresh coriander with king prawns and mushrooms, Phed Yang; marinated duck grilled over charcoal and topped with the Chef’s special sauce, and Pla Sam Rod, a boneless piece of crispy fish cooked in an exotic tamarind sauce.
Thailand No.1 is an excellent addition to the Nottingham restaurant scene and is worth a visit if you are looking for delicious food in stunning surroundings.
