The oldest Indian restaurant in Leeds is Shabab on Eastgate. First opening its doors in 1973, Shabab has enjoyed a growing reputation for serving authentic dishes made using only the freshest ingredients. Enjoying an ideal location on Eastgate, Shabab is within walking distance of the Leeds Shopping Plaza and the rail station as well as the theatre and popular nightspots such as Gatecrasher Seven and Oceana.

The moment that you step inside you will realise that you are in a restaurant that goes above and beyond the normal offerings of an Indian restaurant. The décor uses a deep and rich colour palette of reds and golds and creates a vibrant, opulent dining experience. The attention to detail is exquisite; from the individually painted and upholstered chairs to intricately carved shutters, authentic Indian lamps suspended from the ceiling and the stunning bar and lounge area nothing has been overlooked.

The menu is packed with delicious Indian dishes that are just as exciting and vibrant as the restaurant itself. Every dish is presented beautifully and tastes divine. For starters, why not try the Aloo Tiki served with a salad; the masala coly fillet; or a selection of poppadums and home-made sundries for the signature dish of chicken takatuk. Ordering a naan to accompany your main is highly recommended; at roughly 2 feet in length and cooked in house in the tandoor oven the result is light, fluffy and delicious. It is perfectly sized for two diners and will be much needed to soak up all of the delicious sauce from the main courses.

Shabab Indian restaurant on Eastgate is a truly breath taking restaurant that benefits from a central location in Leeds city centre. The service is absolutely first class, as is the food and the venue itself. If you are looking for a truly exceptional Indian restaurant then look no further than Shabab. It is perfect for any occasion whether you are a couple or a large party and guarantees you a memorable evening that will see you become a loyal customer.
