Saffron was recently awarded the ‘Spice Chef of the Year’ at the Northamptonshire Food Awards 2012-2013.
Saffron is a vibrant Bangladeshi and Nepalese restaurant situated on Castilian Street in the centre of Northampton. The surrounding area offers plenty of bars and an ample night life, perfect for those looking to enjoy the lively atmosphere of Northampton before, or after, sampling the delicious cuisine on offer at Saffron.
Recently voted winners of ‘Best East Midlands Restaurant’ at the Asian Curry Awards 2011, held at London’s Lancaster Hotel, as well as reaching the runners-up spot in the ‘Curry Chef of the Year’ Awards at the Northamptonshire Food Awards 2011, Saffron is a highly popular venue with visitors and locals alike. With a rich and opulent décor the dining room offers guests a luxurious yet relaxed atmosphere in which to try some of the speciality dishes on offer from the kitchen. Owned and managed by Naz Islam, you are sure to receive the warmest of welcomes whatever time you dine.
Offering a unique combination of Bangladeshi and Nepalese dishes, Saffron offers its guests a variety of exciting new flavour combinations. Each cuisine is given a separate heading on the menu, allowing you to fully absorb the range of dishes available. Nepalese offerings include dishes such as Mitho Sawdillo, a mild combination of chicken cooked with coconut milk, almonds, honey and flavoured with saffron and fennel seeds; and chicken hariyo khursani, chicken marinated in green chillies in a spicy yoghurt and chilli sauce. There is a good selection of vegetarian dishes too, with no less than 16 individual vegetarian dishes on the menu.
With fantastically priced set menus for groups of two upwards, there is an option to suit every taste and budget. Saffron is so popular that it frequently has celebrities such as the Calendar Girls and Bobby Davro, coming in to see what is on offer. Booking a table for this venue is highly recommended as demand for a table is high.

This was a meal booked as a birthday treat following on from our enjoyable meal on valentines night. On arrival they seemed confused with my booking and started to place us at the bottom of the restaurant close to the toilets and kitchen entrance... Didn't want to sit there and aft a couple of minutes was shown to a more comfortable table near the front. The order was taken fairly quickly, however two starters never arrived and when I questioned it, they said they'd sort them out, however two of our other guests had already had theirs!!! The excuse, lack of staff, then chef couldn't read the order... Did anyone think to come and ask us if he couldn't read it? The answer... No! The main meal came out all together and the food was good, however this experience has put a cloud on our last visit so will look for another restaurant in the future... It's a shame because the food is definitely good, their timing and informing customers of delays... Very poor.

Lovely evening with great food and good staff. Felt a bit overwhelmed at times because staff continued to check our meal was ok but then again better to have them concerned we were happy than not give a hoot. Full meal for two a glass of lager and a bottle of wine cost £53.00 so happy with value. I would recommend this place definitely.

Superb! The food was excellent and to be recommended, but the customer service we received even outshone that! Due to an very busy evening, we had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated. Whilst we were waiting we were offered drinks and apologised to, for the delay.
The waiter who took our order was very friendly and chatty.
The waiter who brought our food to the table was also a nice guy, and also had time for a smile and a few words.
At the end of our meal the manager came over, apologised once more for the initial delay, and offered us drinks on the house.
Overall, we had a very pleasant dining experience, with excellent customer service, and we will be sure to return again when we are in the area.

Great value on a Wednesday night £8.95. I had the mango chicken which was excellent if slightly bland. It was busy probably due to it being the special offer night but the service was excellent. Will definitely go again.
