Situated in the picturesque village of Long Whatton, just outside Loughborough, is The Royal Oak Pub and Restaurant. Easily accessible from Junction 24 of the M1, The Royal Oak is perfect for gatherings of family and friends who have to travel from far and wide.

Having been lovingly and tastefully restored, The Royal Oak maintains many of the buildings original features whilst offering guests the very best modern amenities and contemporary fixtures and fittings. The bar area is large and comfortable and comes complete with plenty of solid oak fixtures, squashy leather sofas and chairs and a highly modern bar area that boasts a fantastic selection of draught beers, lagers, wines, spirits and soft drinks. You enter the restaurant via a door to the left of the bar. The dining room is intimate and seats up to 30 people at one time. The ancient beamed ceilings and soft green furnishings give the space real character and depth.

The menu provides a selection of dishes that are every bit as beautiful as the surroundings. Using locally-sourced produce as well as being fantastic value for money, you can’t go wrong when dining at The Royal Oak. To start, dishes such as the ham hock hash served with poached duck eggs and truffle oil; wood pigeon and pancetta salad; and seared scallops with apple jam, black pudding and crispy parma ham all come highly recommended.  Mains include the stunning pan-roasted loin of venison with parsnip puree; the assiette of pork or the individual beef wellington are generous in both flavour and portion size.

If you are looking for delicious British cuisine created using locally-sourced produce and served in stunning surroundings, look no further than the restaurant at The Royal Oak, Long Whatton.

Overall

We thoroughly enjoyed our dining experience at the royal oak. It has an intimate little dining room and is very tastefully decorated. Next door, the bar area can be used for more informal dining. Our food was beautifully presented, I had fish and chips, mum had fish pie and my auntie the belly pork we enjoyed a bottle of chilean wine and the whole evening was a resounding success.

Overall

Staff pleasant and obliging. Limited options on early doors and would otherwise not be cheap. But one of our regular haunts and we like it. A good selection of real ales and will be attending the forthcoming beer festival
