Rossi's

Situated just off London Road, Rossi’s Italian restaurant has been serving top-class Italian cuisine for over 28 years. Housed within a beautiful old bank, Rossi’s is one of Sheffield’s most breath-taking restaurants and comes complete with marble pillars and mosaic floor tiles. A real nod to Renaissance art, even the ceiling has been painstakingly decorated with a beautifully intricate collection of paintings that have been specially commissioned by Vito, the restaurant proprietor.

As an Italian national, Vito and his father brought their love of Italian cuisine and dining etiquette with them and, using generations of home-grown cooking knowledge, Rossi’s has established a huge fan base of local diners who flock to Rossi’s week in, week out.

Diners are welcomed by a smartly-dressed door man in the evenings from Thursday to Saturday, who will look after your vehicle whilst you dine. This fantastic, yet rapidly disappearing touch of hospitality really adds to your dining experience and makes you feel like a celebrity. When seated you would be excused for being distracted from the menu and gazing up at the ceiling or pondering over the replica of Michelangelo’s David but we don’t think you will find yourself doing this as the menu is equally as exciting as the décor.

The menu changes with the seasons and takes influence from the Basilicata and Campania regions of Italy. To start rucola, pera e formaggio caprino, rocket, red onions, cherry tomato, walnut and pear salad; calamari fritti; deep fried baby squid served with a continental salad; or our favourite gamberoni carindale, fresh king prawns cooked in tomatoes, garlic, white wine, lemon and parsley, mussels and scallops are all excellent choices. A great range of reasonably priced Pizza and Pastas are available but the best dishes are to be found within the Pollo, Carne e Pesce sections. Agnello Rossi, lamb rump with garlic, onions, mushrooms, cherry tomato, pepper in a tomato and red wine sauce on a bed of parmesan mash competes with Pollo Diana, Chicken breast in mushrooms, French mustard, white wine, cream and brandy for centre stage.
