Bursting on to the scene in 2009, Platillo’s won ‘Best Tapas Menu’ and ‘Restaurateurs Restaurant of the Year’ that very year. The restaurant itself combines a unique blend of rustic and highly modern décor. The exposed floor boards add a rustic twist to a room decorated with bright citrus colours. The effect is welcoming and warm as exposed brick work is broken up by blocks of zesty yellow, vibrant reds and soothing greens. With a separate lounge bar area complete with comfortable leather seating, Platillo’s is brilliant for relaxing with a drink and a couple of tapas dishes or going for an all-out feast with friends and family.

As a tapas restaurant, Platillo’s offers diners the opportunity to choose a large number of small plates to share within the group, or to enjoy as an individual with several dishes per person. This gives reign to an abundance of flavours and lends itself to party bookings where dishes can be brought out over a period of time; encouraging sharing and creating a vibrant atmosphere.

There are five sections to the menu which includes breads and dips and mezze plates, meat, fish, skewers and a huge array of vegetarian dishes. There is also a choice of set menus where you can let the experts do the choosing for you as you relax and let Platillo’s take you on a journey of flavours. From the meat section, dishes such as cassoulet, a hearty pork stew with Toulouse sausage, chorizo, confit of duck, cannelloni and berlotti beans in a  tomato sauce; or the spicy lamb tagine are excellent choices. The red mullet escabeche or pan-fried seabass are must-tries for seafood lovers and grilled goats cheese, stuffed vine leaves, Moroccan spiced sweet potatoes and Greek salad are just some of the options available for vegetarians.
