Lying just behind the urban sprawl of the inner city is the idyllic village of Plumtree where Perkins Restaurant resides. Surrounded by heavenly countryside, Perkins can be found down the little private road opposite to the Plumtree Garage on Station Road.
Housed within the beautifully converted village train station that dates back to the 1880’s, Perkins combines contemporary décor with rustic character to create a truly unique and charming dining experience. The entire restaurant is bright and airy and almost appears to mimic the rolling countryside that sits just outside. Fern green paint is coupled with neutral tones in the fixtures and furnishings to create a contemporary dining space with a refreshing and relaxing ambience. Bespoke light fixtures shaped like flowers add an element of drama to this simple, yet stunning space. With several private dining rooms that are available for hire ranging from small to large and each differing slightly in décor, there is a room at Perkins suited for every occasion. They even have their own smokehouse on site which adds yet another dimension to dining there.
The menu focuses on using fine, seasonally available, local produce to create a unique blend of classic and modern European dishes. With food that has seen the restaurant win countless awards, including ‘Midlands Restaurant of the Year’ in 2007 and 2008 and the Which? Good Food Guide and Nottingham Restaurant Awards ‘Outstanding Service’ award in 2008, you know dining at Perkins will be a delight no matter what the occasion. The main a la carte features, when seasonally available, dishes such as duo of Belvoir pheasant with Scotch broth; roast loin of Stathern lamb served with a shallot puree, boulangere potatoes, minted greens; and Medallions of Clipston-on-the-Wolds fillet beef with chips, fine beans and a brandy and green peppercorn cream sauce. This is complemented by a specials board that is updated regularly as well as a range of regularly changing set menus that are available throughout the week.
Whether you require an intimate meal, celebration or business lunch, Perkins is well worth the short trip outside the city. With fantastic value set menus, beautiful views and a relaxing ambience it is perfect for dining, every day of the week.

Changed last minute to increase numbers and request a quick turnaround as this was a business lunch. A very good meal. Food and service were both excellent and our deadline was very much accommodated. Excellent lunch. Many thanks, Sam.

Whilst the food served was excellent in every way the changes to Perkins decor-wise meant that I found it too modern and the old ambiance and upmarket feeling was gone. The service too left a little to be desired as we were not asked if our coats could be taken and no-one kept an eye on our wine, never mind came to top it up for us. For me it was, overall, a disappointing evening and I will not be tempted to return. A great shame as the food is let down by everything else.

Food was lovely... Staff need more training had to ask for the wine list 3 times... Some staff too personal... The restaurant seemed to closed in with too many covers...

A pleasant first visit, the food was well presented and very tasty. Worth another visit to confirm the experience.

Another enjoyable experience. One fault, the pidgeon breast and the duck were not left to rest after cooking, the blood weeped out onto the plate and spoilt the presentation of the meal.

Lovely setting and blessed with beautful weather on the day. Great value for the midweek lunch. Food good, but have had better here before. Service, excellent, although we should have stated that were were on a working lunch to speed things up a bit. We didn't have time to have the three courses. Shame, but still great value, lovely setting and good service.
