Food was very good. Vegetarian main was disappointing, a pastry dish with some veg plonked on top. But all other courses were enjoyed. Excellent service as usual.

Perfect Sunday lunch at Perkins... Will be back!

The staff were amazing, very professional and warm; the food was great and the place is wonderfully set in the Nottinghamshire countryside. I highly recommend Perkins to anyone.

Always great food and service at Perkins!

Excellent lunch, a la carte for us at Perkins. All options for gluten and dairy free explained thoroughly & executed deliciously. Always excellent service & food. Quiet when we arrived but soon filled up with other happy lunchers. Lots of folk choosing the prix fixe menu. Even dairy free cheese board to offer!

Perfect for a family Sunday dinner - and no washing up.

Lovely meal at Perkins. Interesting flavours. Particularly recommend the rabbit terrine. Starters possibly better than our mains. Good value!

The food we had was delicious but the portions were very small for the price of the item. We had the Hake and people on the table next to us had the same and their fish was nearly twice as big as ours. The service was excellent.

Meal enjoyed by all in our party. Thank you

The whole experience at Sunday Lunch was amazing. The food was cooked to the highest standard at Perkins, as was the service offered from arriving, to leaving at the end of lunch.

    Lovely meal and great service!

Enjoyed very much. Had the set 2 course meal which was cooked to perfection and attractively displayed. Liked the ambience of the old railway station.

We had a very rare Ladies that lunch. Everyone enjoyed the meal and we are all keen to go back.

One of the mains at Perkins was not very nice however staff couldn't have done more to make up for it. Rushed out something different very quickly!

Had a lovely 3 course meal at Perkins. Service was excellent, as it always is there. Food was very nice, a tasty vegetarian main not just boring old stuffed peppers!

Dinner for three at Perkin's celebrating my husband's birthday. A great place for a special occasion!

Great food, service and ambiance was second to none. Main course portions were a bit on the small side.

Always a great welcome from the host who amazing remembers us even though we don't go to Perkins that often. Always great food too.

Not the best meal. Two meals arrived and waited for the other 4.
Needless to say the early ones were cold.

We had a very pleasant meal at Perkin's restaurant, however it was a little on the pricey side.

Good meal again at Perkins- all 5 diners enjoyed their meals. Lovely setting, good service.

Food quality is high, however, it didn't feel 100% freshly prepared which was a little disappointing considering the price. Atmosphere is subdued and feels like it needs a bit of a freshen up in the dining room. Overall experience was enjoyed by those who it was arranged for (parent, 60+ old), however I don't feel the venue is a place I would revisit personally.

Don't know if we just went on a bad day but we were attending a wedding nearby and decided to go here for lunch as I'd heard so many wonderful things about Perkin's restaurant and I love food. I was just so disappointed. The starters were okay but the main was not good. They forgot some of the sides for my husbands duck roast and the roast potatoes weren't good at all. My chicken was okay, but that's the thing, I didn't think I was going to such a fancy place for just ordinary food. My dessert I didn't finish. I'd ordered a chocolate tart. The filling was terrible, really hard, you needed to push the knife really hard and tasted like cheap chocolate rather than the soft rich chocolatey filling I was expecting. Funny thing is the wedding was catered by them, the dessert was chocolate tart and was just what I'd expected at lunch. Made me wonder if they'd just ignored the restaurant lunch service in favour for the wedding catering! Wouldn't go back though.

Modern European cuisine cooked to perfection in old railway station.

    Perfect.

Had a pleasant evening at Perkins. The food was generally good, my guests wood pigeon was too salty for their taste and my cheese filo tart was rather rubbery, however all was forgiven when we had the orange bakewell which was superb.

Went for Sunday lunch, very good value, exceptional food. Service was very good, however took a while for dessert plates to be cleared and to get the bill, but minor point. Would definetly return, setting is lovely and food amazing.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, excellent food. The staff were lovely and very polite.

Changed last minute to increase numbers and request a quick turnaround as this was a business lunch. A very good meal. Food and service were both excellent and our deadline was very much accommodated. Excellent lunch. Many thanks, Sam.

Whilst the food served was excellent in every way the changes to Perkins decor-wise meant that I found it too modern and the old ambiance and upmarket feeling was gone. The service too left a little to be desired as we were not asked if our coats could be taken and no-one kept an eye on our wine, never mind came to top it up for us. For me it was, overall, a disappointing evening and I will not be tempted to return. A great shame as the food is let down by everything else.

Food was lovely... Staff need more training had to ask for the wine list 3 times... Some staff too personal... The restaurant seemed to closed in with too many covers...

Lovely meal, great service. All excellent.

Great food, good service - recommended.

Fantastic food, no complaints about this restaurant at all, very good, would go again.

A pleasant first visit, the food was well presented and very tasty. Worth another visit to confirm the experience.

Another enjoyable experience. One fault, the pidgeon breast and the duck were not left to rest after cooking, the blood weeped out onto the plate and spoilt the presentation of the meal.

Lovely setting and blessed with beautful weather on the day. Great value for the midweek lunch. Food good, but have had better here before. Service, excellent, although we should have stated that were were on a working lunch to speed things up a bit. We didn't have time to have the three courses. Shame, but still great value, lovely setting and good service.

We love a trip to Perkin's. The food and service are reliably good and it's worth the extra money for a special occasion.

Very nice small restaurant, nice location food very good.

Excellent meal and a good atmosphere

Lovely Lunch, good surroundings, good service.

Lovely restaurant - makes you feel you have been somewhere special. Delicious food, beautifully prepared and presented.

We say…

Situated just behind the urban sprawl of the inner city is the idyllic village of Plumtree. Surrounded by gorgeous countryside, Perkins can be found down the little private road opposite to the Plumtree Garage on Station Road.

Housed within a beautifully converted village train station that dates back to the 1880s, Perkins combines contemporary décor with rustic character to create a truly unique and charming dining experience. The entire restaurant is bright, airy and in perfect harmony with the rolling countryside outside. Fern green paint is coupled with neutral tones in the fixtures and furnishings to create a contemporary dining space with a refreshing and relaxing ambience. With several private dining rooms that are available for hire, ranging from small to large and each differing slightly in décor, there is a room at Perkins suited for every occasion. They even have their own smokehouse on site which adds yet another dimension to dining there.

The menu focuses on using fine, seasonally available, local produce to create a unique blend of classic and modern European dishes. With food that has seen the restaurant win countless awards, including winning the ‘Midlands Restaurant of the Year’ twice, plus the Which? Good Food Guide and Nottingham Restaurant Awards' ‘Outstanding Service’ award in 2008, you know that dining at Perkins will be a delight no matter what the occasion. The seasonally-changing menu features delicious, well-executed dishes that exude style and finesse. For starters, go for the lightly curried rabbit terrine with piccalilli, thyme and sea salt croutons, or the chargrilled asparagus with a goat's cheese fritter, local honey, truffle and toasted almonds. Favourite mains include the fillet of lamb with sauté potatoes, tomato, green beans, pea and mint fricassée and beurre blanc, as well as the halibut and prawn thermidor served with parsley new potatoes and asparagus. Leave room for dessert: the chocolate and peanut butter fondant is not to be missed!

Whether you require an intimate meal, celebration or business lunch, Perkins is well worth the short trip outside the city. With fantastic value set menus, beautiful views and a relaxing ambience, it's the perfect setting for an elegant but hearty dining experience, any day of the week.
