The Olive Tree Headingly is the third addition to the Olive Tree family that has become so well renowned across Leeds. This restaurant is located on Otley Road, next to Giorgio’s Italian Ristorante and Cottage Road Cinema. Headingly is a lively area with a good number of bars and shops allowing visitors and locals to enjoy a taste of city living without the hustle and bustle.
The Olive Tree is spread over two floors and has a modern theme running throughout. The dining room is contemporary and minimalist with a colour scheme of black, white and red though diners can rest assured that the food is as authentic as possible, with a large clay oven used to cook dishes such as Kleftiko.
Owners George and Vasoulla are very proud of their restaurants and ensure that serve authentic Greek food at its prime. In order to do this they locally source their meat where possible and import important ingredients such as feta cheese to enhance the authenticity of their home-cooked Greek cuisine.
George is a self-taught Chef who recognises his mother-in-law as one of his most important culinary influences hence why the menu is packed with traditional Greek dishes, cooked using the best ingredients. Diners will find many authentic dishes as well as a few that are unique to The Olive Tree including their BBC Food and Drink award-winning Taramosalata and Stafidhopitta, an Olive tree special dessert of sultanas, filfar orange liquer and a hint of cinnamon encased in filo pastry. Other stand-out dishes include the Stifado, a dish of diced beef in a red wine sauce with onions and herbs; Mixed Souvlaki, a delicious skewer of chargrilled lamb and chicken and, of course, Mousakka.
If you’re looking for authentic Greek food then The Olive Tree Headingly is definitely the destination for you.
