Voted one of the top ten canal-side pub restaurants by the Sunday Telegraph, the Navigation Inn sits proudly overlooking the Grand Union Canal. With stunning surroundings and uninterrupted views to savour, the Navigation Inn is a great pub venue on the borders of Northamptonshire and close to Milton Keynes.

The large, traditional, bar area is perfect for relaxed evening meals by the roaring open fire whilst enjoying a fantastically fresh, home-cooked meal that is designed to showcase traditional British cuisine, with the odd contemporary twist. The staff at The Navigation Inn are very friendly and Thierry, the restaurant manager, will be sure to cater for any special requests that you may have; whether you are dining as a couple or making a large group booking. To the rear of the building is a light and airy conservatory that is perfect for exclusive hire and also for romantic meals as the views are exceptional as you gaze North over the canal and across the uninterrupted countryside for miles behind. There is ample customer car parking and you can even moor your boat nearby if you are travelling by water.

As you browse the menu you will see the team are avid fans of local produce, so local in fact that beef is sourced from the farm across the road. This ensures that you will be enjoying dishes created from the freshest and finest seasonal ingredients available. To start Mussels and Chorizo in white wine and shallot cream with a healthy portion of fresh crusty bread is an excellent choice. Honey and Vanilla pork belly with sage and leek polenta chips and curly Kale makes for a mouth-watering main course and for those with a sweet tooth, the Triple Chocolate brownie sundae or the Cranberry Frangipane Tart is the perfect way to finish off your meal. With plenty of interesting and creative vegetarian options there is something here for everyone.

The Navigation Inn at Thrupp Wharf offers a true taste of Northamptonshire and is perfect for, and will please, the most discerning of diners.

Overall

We were given a very nice table overlooking the canal marina with polite staff. We were a little concerned that several items on the menu were unavailable - including chips!! However - the food that we did have was really lovely. We intend to return there soon.

Overall

The rump was well cooked but had quite a large line of gristle through it, the partridge was excellent as was the lamb. My girlfriend asked for the roast with no meat, the kitchen put extra veg on the plate, excellent, I have been to other places that only put standard amount on the plate. Will be going back again and recommending.
