Took my partner here for our second anniversary and fell in love with the food and the staff. We couldn't have been more catered for, nothing was too much trouble and the meals came out in perfect timing. The restaurant is pricey but you definitely get what you pay for and will certainly be returning. We had a very special and romantic night.

We were extremely impressed with this restaurant and had a delicious meal and pleasant evening there. It is very much a hotel restaurant, with a calm and measured atmosphere; perfect for what we needed after a 9 hour journey and a 2 hour delay in our reservation which the restaurant accommodated graciously. Would highly recommend both restaurant and hotel.

I booked Merchants for my girlfriends 30th and both she and I were very pleased with the meal. The staff were most accommodating to ensure we would be finished in time to get across to the theatre in good time. The food was excellent though would have been a little bit too pricey for me without the Go dine discount. I cant really give an accurate assessment of the ambiance as we were the only ones in there due to it being rather early. The only negative point was that one of the speakers in the sound system appeared to have blown and therefore the music playing was rather crackly. Apart from that we it was a very enjoyable experience and I would recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.

It was the first time we visited Merchants restaurant and after reading all the reviews and talking to our friends, who dined there before, we had rather high expectations. The atmosphere and staff were very good. Staff checked on us several times and they were very friendly. The food was served very quickly, but the restaurant wasn't too busy, so it would have be expected. The food was presented very well, but we felt the taste of it was only good if not average. Maybe due to high expectations or maybe because we didn't pick the dishes that others love so much, but overall we probably won't go there again as it was expensive for the taste we got and we feel there are better expensive restaurants in Nottingham.

Food was great as usual, although the portion sizes were a little smaller than I remember. The service was good and the restaurant were very flexible, when we asked if we could take our newborn daughter with us.

Made excellent use of the mid-week lunchtime offer to sneak out without the children and had a most enjoyable lunch - brilliant piece of halibut which the waiter wisely recommended. Deserts were also a highlight. Shame that not too many others had chosen to dine which detracted from the overall ambience and gave the restaurant a slightly sad appearance

I have been a number of times before and cannot understand why some people do not give 100%? I am sure if anything is wrong, it would be sorted if drawn to the attention of the staff!

I haven't been to Merchants for a good couple of years and wasn't disappointed. When I booked through Go Dine there was a free bottle of wine offer if we were sat down before 7.30pm. It was well worth the offer as the house white was lovely, so an added bonus. The food was excellent and the choice was not your standard steak and chicken dishes. It was really nice to see the other members of the party trying different foods like pheasant. We managed 3 courses and were very satisfied. The service was great too - we asked for the 12.5% service charge to be taken off the bill so we knew our waiter would get the cash tip we left instead! A thoroughly enjoyable meal.

Superb moden French cuisine, excellent service and plush furnishings. The atmosphere is great and not pretentious and you may expect from such a high quality restaurant. The food is simply fantastic, I have been to Merchants on 3 separate occasions as have been blown away by the dishes each time. The menu is always changing and seems to be in good keeping with seasonality and food trends - definitely worth what you pay. If you like food then you should visit this restaurant.
