Lovely meal, very good service. Thank you Merchants

    Great evening.

Friendly welcome. Service unhurried and knowledgeable.
We decided on the chefs platter. 3 meats 2 sides and sauce all perfectly cooked. With a full-bodied Malbec.
Dessert -fantastic creme brulee and plum tatan.
Can't wait to come back again.

Merchants restaurant was amazing. The staff and service was excellent and the food amazing. After a bad experience at Harts the week before this was like a breath of fresh air and we will certainly return. Thank you to all the staff!

Lovely food, brilliant service very attentive. One of our friends was unable to make it. They accommodated this straight away. Thank you for a lovely afternoon and we will be back again, especially for the afternoon tea.

Fantastic food good service got to be one of the best restaurants in Nottingham

I really enjoyed my visit at merchants restaurant, the staff was very welcoming and attentive. The staff made sure you had a good service, I can't fault them. The food was very good value for money we couldn't even finish our dishes & the over all atmosphere was romantic and friendly.

Friendly staff food was delicious relatively quiet but that was probably because of the time we dined. Would definitely return.

Lovely meal at Merchants, excellent service. Wine a bit pricey though. Would go again.

Had the tasting menu. The starter was amazing but it was downhill from there unfortunately. It was decent food but we were expecting great food so felt like a let down.

Cote de bouef was very good at Merchants.

A thoroughly enjoyable meal, well cooked and presented, by very attentive and friendly staff. We hope to dine there again soon!

Had a great meal at Merchants. Excellent choice of menu and staff were lovely. Excellent value for money!

Food was very nice and the service was good at Merchants. Wine very expensive £15.00 for 2 glasses of OK Sauvignon.

Merchant's was nice, pity the company wasn't!

On the whole the food was lovely but one dish was not as it was described on the menu. Nice venue. Great value for Sunday lunch but drinks are a little pricey. Service was ok but a little slow.

Excellent experience for us all at Merchants, very impressive.
I would most certainly book again!

Great meal at Merchants for Saturday lunch but unfortunately only us, so no real atmosphere.

Beautiful interiors at Merchant's with great furnishing. Waiter was very pleasant and polite.
I did ask for them to have a balloon ready which I specifically dropped off a day before, so that it would be there for when we arrived for in order to celebrate the special occasion but unfortunately it was not there and I had to ask twice for it to be brought which after it was not brought out until after our first course which was very disappointing even though I had tried very hard to pre-organised this. The food itself was presented nicely however we felt it was a little overpriced for its quality. Portion sizes were fair due to the richness of each dish. Unfortunately they did not have the smoked trout which was on the menu and they did replace it with smoked salmon. We were the only guest in the restaurant

1st visit back after the re-opening of Merchants. Decor much nicer than before and the bar area isn't doom and gloom any more!! It's obviously trying to mimic the previous restaurant in style and quality, but just not quite there yet. The menu wasn't overly inspiring, especially for my vegetarian wife. The food was very good though!! No complaints there. The service however, was miles away from a Michelin star! They weren't very attentive, wine glasses filled high but didn't refill. We had to ask for some more wine, then they couldn't decide which was our bottle! We were asked if we wanted to look at the Desert menu, but were presented with the Main Menu again! So when asked if I would like anything, I asked for the Duck!! Won't rush back...

Delicious food with some great unusual combinations and tastes.

    A special occasion.

Absolute delighted we chose to have our belated valentines meal at this wonderful restaurant! The food was absolutely amazing, the service was perfect, very attentive, polite and pleasant! I would return for sure if in the area and would recommend to anyone who appreciates fine food. Thank you so much for making our evening special!

We dined here on Sunday lunch as a valentines treat from my boyfriend. Everything was perfect, great service, food, drink and fantastic value. The French waiter did a fantastic job, he was really personable and gave just the right amount of service and chat, filling our drinks before we emptied the glasses and checking on us as we started each of the courses. I was also given a red rose for valentines. I had Pumpkin gnocchi, Cauliflower risotto with truffle and Tiramisu cheesecake and my boyfriend had Black pudding, Moules mariniere and Sticky Toffee pudding. This was all from the 3 courses for £18 menu which was fantastic value, with only a 10% service charge. The food was some of the best we have had and each course seemed to top the previous one. The portions where substantial and the puddings were far more than the titles suggested and a real taste sensation. We were both beaming as we ate them. We had a bottle of Rose at £20 which is far more reasonable than other fine dining restaurants in Nottingham. I would recommend anyone dines here and think they deserve great success. Just being off the beaten track makes the setting really lovely but possibly hidden from those who don’t know of it or that it has reopened. I visited Merchants as it was previously. The bar was always welcoming but the restaurant lacked in lots of areas; the food was of a far lower standard, a far higher price and it was gloomy and a bit pretentious. The new restaurant is a far more welcoming, brighter and a pleasant environment. Having 3 options to choose from as a vegetarian on the starter menu is virtually unheard of and an interesting main and delightful pudding too. We left feeling full, happy and satisfied and will certainly be back and wouldn't have thought twice if the bill had been twice the price. If you need anyone to test out any new menus then we will be there in a shot!

Lovely food and service at Merchants. Really nice atmosphere and ambiance. Attentive staff but not overdone. Will go back again!

Keiran the restaurant manager at Merchants was very helpful, sadly the major let downs was starters arriving with dirty plates still on the table. Slow service but they have recently re~opened so may not have trained new staff. Overall a lovely experience & most certainly will come back.

Amazing starter, blue cheese & pear from the Christmas menu. Super fab service, attentive & friendly, beautifully presented meals and nice surroundings at Merchants Restaurant.
