Situated towards the east of the town, MemSaab Northampton is aimed at the more discerning Indian food fanatic. It’s out of town location, placing it on the corner of Manfield Road and Wellingborough Road, just up from Corkers Champagne and Cocktail Bar, means that it is devoid of the lager louts who can frequently plague an otherwise exceptional Indian restaurant.

MemSaab serves upper class Indian cuisine that draws in an array of regulars and first time diners who have become familiar with the MemSaab brand and the quality that is associated with their restaurants. The building that this particular branch is housed in is steeped in history and has been decorated with a contemporary and chic theme in mind. The walls and tablecloths are all white and colour is injected into the dining room through pops of vibrant purple chairs and matching carpet. It feels modern and fresh and created an incredibly relaxed atmosphere, ideal for enjoying MemSaab’s delicious dishes.

The menu is generous and packed full of classic Indian dishes with a contemporary twist. Each section of the menu has a little bit of history behind the dishes you will find there, allowing guests to immerse themselves fully in the cuisine on offer. For example, Edith Brown’s Tandoori Specials, explains that she founded the first North India School of Medicine in 1894 and the tandoori dishes were served to patients! As well as the classic curries, you will also find a Tiffin menu, which includes more English dishes such as Lemon and Thyme Roast Chicken, and a fantastic Vegetarian menu.

MemSaab is definitely worth a visit if you are looking for high-class Indian cuisine in a beautiful dining room. Their ability to cater for spice lovers and haters alike make them a please-all venue.

Overall

Went for Sunday lunch and will be going again. Such a good menu that I could eat something different every time I dine there. Recommended.
