Winner of ‘Best International Restaurant 2009’, Le Mistral is a stunning French restaurant housed within a period building in the centre of Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Situated just off the A6, Le Mistral is easily reachable and perfect for a special dinner or indulgent lunch.
From the moment you step inside the Parisian bistro-style venue you feel welcome and relaxed. The entire restaurant has a beautifully cosy, rustic feel about it that is ideal for families and couples alike. With two dining options to choose from guests are able to sit at a table on the light and airy ground floor that is perfect for a luxurious lunch, or take a few steps downstairs in to the intimate cellar dining room. The cellar is a truly romantic affair complete with exposed brickwork, lashings of French memorabilia adorning the walls, soft furnishing in vintage patterns, fresh flowers and beautiful twinkling fairy lights. All the staff at Le Mistral are incredibly proud to be working for the restaurant and the pictures running down the side of the bar show that the staff are more than just employees, they are like family.
The menu on offer at Le Mistral Wirksworth is classically French and you will feel spoilt for choice. Starters include the indulgent moules marinière and deliciously creamy brie parcels or, if you’re looking to share, the platters include the delicious assiette de charcuterie and baked camembert for two. The mains are equally as mouth-watering with beautiful beef bourguignon, salmon fillet with a pesto crust, and hearty sausage of the day and mash grabbing diners’ attention. There is a limited menu for vegetarians that, whilst small, is delicious. Alongside the menu you will find wine recommendations for each dish which allow you to expertly match you fine French wines perfectly to your meal, Bon Appetite!

Food cooked to a good standard for the reasonable cost. Surroundings fair. Some problems with service at the end of the meal, but that was towards closing time.

Very nice meal the only complaint is that when we arrived, they only confirmed a booking for Freddy not my full name Freddy Spegelaere.
My wife had booked the special offer 2 mains & a bottle of house wine which had been confirmed on her mobile phone for £26. They told us this offer was now finished, but how could it be it was still advertised on the internet (thankfully she honoured it).

Outstanding food, outstanding value, generous portions - a delightful way to take Sunday lunch and we shall return! Chairs could be more comfortable, toilets are a little cramped - otherwise this is the benchmark by which other establishments will be judged.

My wife and I sat in the downstairs area which seemed a little dark at first but when the candles were lit the place came alive. Such a great ambience, so relaxing and we chatted away whilst sampling some of the meats from a charcuterie board. Followed by beef bourginon the meal was great but the surroundings and pace of the experience both put a smile on our face. £50 including a generous tip for a full meal and a bottle of house wine was good value.
