Just south of Matlock is Matlock Bath, a village built along the River Derwent that is infoamous for its natural beauty and positioning at the foot of the Heights of Abraham. In 1968 warm springs were discovered and a Bath House was built making the village a Mecca for visitors looking for the perceived natural benefits. Unfortunately the springs have long since flowing but a beautiful village exists with very much of a seaside feel.
On the south side of the village is the aptly named New Bath Hotel, and is a magnificent 18th ventury property set within 5 acres of landscaped gardens that overlooks the breathtaking Derwent Gorge. The New Bath is an ideal base from which to explore the Peak District and set within the hotel is the traditional Lamp and Seam restaurant. From a relaxing drink in the lounge diners can peruse the traditional British menu with a contemporary twist. An extremely reasonable lunch menu welcomes diners for either a speedy business lunch or, as you would expect from a restaurant of this calibre diners can sit back and relax and enjoy a meal at their leisure and take in the surroundings. The evening promises to be more romantic or formal affair with an extensive a la carte menu with an excellent range of starters mains and deserts.
The Lamp and Seam is a real taste of Derbyshire and with the beautiful surroundings and relaxing lounge the New Bath Hotel is an excellent venue; book online for text message confirmation.
