Lambs at the Market is a family run restaurant offering the best of modern British cuisine in a historic grade 2 listed building and is now listed in the Michelin Guide...
Designed by local architect Watson Fothergill in 1877 as a tavern attached to the cattle market, the building has been fully renovated by proprietor Ted Dubowski with the help of local tradesmen. The historic background with modern interpretation provides the perfect ambience for a laid back dining experience. Soft lighting and easy listening music lends itself to the relaxing atmosphere.
Head chef and joint owner Troy Lamb has created a modern British menu centred around local produce and endeavours to use as many local ingredients and suppliers as possible. The menu gives the origin of the ingredients so that you know exactly where your beef was raised and vegetables grown.
Local ingredients means seasonality, freshness and variety is guaranteed. The Lambs at the Market menu is prepared in–house daily including freshly made bread and desserts. Troy changes the menu daily depending on the availability of ingredients, offering varied traditional and modern British food.
Signature dishes include: Roast Rump of Scofton Lamb, pan haggerty, bacon and local broad beans; Pan fried Ham Hock Stovey with Parsley Veloute.

This was an excellent venue for a business lunch as the food was good and the service discreet.

Lambs was an unexpected gem of a restaurant! The Sunday Lunch menu was all very tasty and well-presented, whilst providing excellent value for money. The venue was also beautifully decorated; but for me, the biggest positive was the service that we received. We took a small baby in a car seat and the staff didn't hesitate to find us a more suitable table with more room. Definitely one for repeated visits.

Service was good, food good. If we had to pick a criticism it would be the roast potatoes were over seasoned with salt.
