We say…

Lalon Restaurant first opened its doors in July 2009 with the intentions of taking its guests on an adventure of taste across all regions of India. Fast forward several years and its clear from the five-star client feedback that they are more than meeting diners expectations with their authentic Indian cuisine and welcoming atmosphere.

Conveniently located on Radcliffe Road and boasting plenty of free parking, Lalon is easily accessible from all directions and is well worth the two mile drive from the city centre as it is, without a doubt, one of the finest Indian restaurants in Nottingham. With a sumptuous and luxurious interior and decorated in deep rich colours Lalon has a welcoming atmosphere and is an attractive space that is further complimented by feature lighting and subtle Indian artwork on the walls. Lalon also boasts beautiful views over the lake, which have been made the most of by the team with large windows opening out towards the water. Able to seat over 100 guests at any one time, Lalon is tailor made for large parties and you can rest assured that hosting a part or celebration here will be memorable for all the right reasons as the staff and management go out of their way to ensure that your occasion has real wow-factor!

Lalon prides itself on offering diners something a little different from the ‘old favourites’ such as korma, bhuna and madras, though the kitchen team will cook these up for you fresh on request if you can’t bear to part with them. Those that leave their comfort zone will be highly rewarded as the kitchen team insist on only using the freshest and finest ingredients to create their dishes which focus on flavour rather than heat. All dishes have a description of where the recipe originates from, the key ingredients and how it was put together, which allows guests to get more involved in the dining experience and understand their meal more. Recommended dishes include the Bemisal, a char grilled tikka or simply grilled Scottish salmon in a mild to medium coconut, buttery tomato and lemongrass sauce complemented by sautéed brown onions; and the lamb Hyderabadi, a very rich dish that is packed with stir-fried spices, coriander, fresh sour yoghurt, tomatoes, garlic and ginger puree in juices of bay leaves, cloves and cardamom. There is also a superb vegetarian selection that offers so much more than just paneer with dishes such as sweet gobi, stir fried butternut squash and cauliflower tossed with chilli and coriander; and khumb aloo of stir-fried wild mushrooms and potatoes in herbs and spices with pureed tomatoes.

It is clear to see that both the restaurant team and management are incredibly proud of their establishment and the food they create. Their passion for Indian cuisine is clear in every dish that they produce and this combined with the wonderful ambience, friendly and knowledgeable staff and enviable location ensures that you will visit time and time again. A visit to Lalon doesn’t just open your eyes to authentic Indian cuisine, it takes you on a real taste adventure.

    Overall:

Easily the best curry we have had in years. Go for some of the more unusual dishes as they are well worth it! Highly recommend a visit.
