Voted Best Pub/Restaurant 2010 at the Northamptonshire Food and Drink Awards.
Nestled in the village of Kislingbury, a short journey from Northampton, you will find the delightful Olde Red Lion, an independently run pub which is a welcome change from the average chain venue and which was named 2009 runner up of the Northamptonshire best pub/restaurant.
In a building which has been run as a village pub since 1829, there is plenty of atmosphere and sense of history. It was run by the present landlord, Paul’s, great grandfather and then grandfather from 1903 to 1947, and when he and Chris purchased it in 2006 he became the third generation of his family to run it. Paul and Chris brought the pub back to its former glory with a compete refurbishment and added many modern touches. Diners can relax in the bar area before their meal and enjoy one of the many specialist beverages on show in front of the fire place, before walking through to the Hunters Restaurant.
Within the restaurant you will enjoy a la carte dining in a relaxing environment as you sit back in the high leather chairs and peruse the excellent menu. All food is prepared fresh using locally sourced, high quality produce and there are plenty of vegetarian options. The menu changes substantially nearly every week to keep up with the latest seasonal produce and all menus can be tailored should you wish to hire the 26 seater restaurant exclusively.
Together with a comprehensive range of locally sourced suppliers produce, with everything from free range rare breed pork, water buffalo and local shot game, to the flour which goes into their homemade bread, also on offer at this award winning establishment is salt marsh lamb from the Gower Penninsular in Wales and the finest Welsh black steaks as supplied to chefs at some of the top London restaurants. The team at the Olde Red Lion visit all their suppliers personally, going straight to farmers and breeders not only enables them to offer the best of the best, but at a price not normally associated with such a quality end product.
Chris, former owner and chef at The Wollaston Inn, has taken the position as the head chef at Hunters and looks to continue the restuarants success by contributing his knowledge and experience.

Very pleasant, welcoming staff. Food was presented well and was full of flavour. Meat was cooked to perfection, we had lamb, slow braised beef and stroganoff - all of which were faultless. Desserts were too appetising to resist and lived up to expectation. Overall, a very pleasant dining experience and would recommend wholeheartedly.

The Gourmet Evening offered well presented food with flavour - well worth the expense. I would like to vote this establishment in the good food competition that's running.
