Sandra and Danny Jimminson both trained at the Savoy Hotel in London and gained more experience in other high profile venues across London as well as Switzerland and France before settling close to Danny’s childhood home on the border of Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. The duo’s combined experience has resulted in the Hammer and Pincers being a highly popular venue with a fantastic ethos that sees almost everything on the menu created in-house using fresh, locally-sourced produce.

The restaurant itself provides a cosy ambience that welcomes guests into the comfortable and relaxing dining areas. Kept light and airy through the use of a fresh cream and soft fern colour scheme and adding rustic and contemporary twists through the use of heavy wooden tables, exposed brickwork and quirky pieces of art, all of which are for sale and provided by the ‘galerie gARTenhaus’ with whom the Hammer and Pincers has collaborated with, the restaurant is the perfect setting for any occasion. With a larger table that is ideal for group bookings, friendly and attentive service and expertly executed modern British cuisine, there is no better place to spend time with friends and family enjoying good food, conversation and laughter.

Danny is a remarkable chef and you will certainly find no better advocate of local fresh produce. Everything on the menu is locally sourced with ingredients ranging from Prestwold pheasant to locally reared fillet steak, and everything is made in-house from the horseradish and ketchup to bread and desserts. You can expect to be enjoying, when seasonally available, dishes such as cod fillet, razor clam, squid, bacon and butterbean cassoulet with a smoked garlic and parsley puree; 28-day aged rib-eye steak from Blackberry Farm at Clipston-on-the-Wolds served with hand-cut, triple cooked chips and a sauce of your choice; and roast lamb rump, Lancashire hot pot, Chantennay carrots,creamed leeks & ruby kale.
