Go dine review
Situated only a stone’s throw from Derby Station the Hallmark is a boutique hotel that has been lovingly restored by its current owners and now is home to the beautiful Hallmark Brasserie. Offering well executed European cuisine and some dishes that are more familiar to Britain, both cuisine and ambience are first class. Using only the finest of ingredients the experienced kitchen team create ‘really tasty food at sensible prices’ and even a selection of tapas is available early evening to accompany a pre-dinner drink known as the Hallmark Tapas Table between 5pm and 7pm.
A wide selection of dishes is available and all guests are sure to find something to tickle the taste buds. If the Tapas or hot dipping Camembert baked with caramelised onions and cranberries hasn’t stifled the demand for a starter, home prepared Country Terrines such as Ham Hock and roast vegetables served on a wooden platter is highly recommended. For those looking for an Asian influence Crispy Duck pancakes promises to be a good choice.
Main courses are even harder to choose from with Seafood Bouillabaisse, Saffron flavoured seafood stew with a pan-fried Bream tempting meat eaters away from the Grilled Belly Pork, Sausage and mash. If there is still room the puddings come highly recommended or to share the Hallmark Hotels Chocolate Desserts of chocolate terrine, chocolate ice cream and chocolate shake is devilish treat.
You will also find an impressive wine cellar and something to suit just about every palate and either by the glass or bottle you are certain to enjoy one of the broad selection of affordable house wines.
