A beautiful and mood-lit restaurant to the rear looks over Rutland Water and in the summer season a fantastic terrace allows for peaceful open air enjoyment of the top-class modern British cuisine.

A talented and reputable chef in Mark Gough ensures cuisine of the highest order with imaginative dishes created from local ingredients. With his enviable track record and experience as head chef at Hart’s restaurant in Nottingham, Mark is sure to surprise and delight diners. Overall

We had a lovely meal at the Finch's Arms. The set menu was good value and the food was lovely although portions were a bit on the small side and it would have been nice to have some seasonal vegetables as part of the meal, rather than an extra.

We had a wonderful meal on 15 December to celebrate my partner's 60th birthday. The bar has an excellent ambience and the whole is in a beautiful setting which I am sure would be great to see in daylight. Food was cooked and presented to a high standard. We had the beef and lamb fillets for main courses - both were cooked just right and came with mouthwatering accompaniments. Staff were fine and pretty unobtrusive (but no-one seemed aware of the food intolerance mentioned when the booking was placed). Just a few gripes - the restaurant having no absorbing surfaces meant that it was quite noisy, especially as we were placed right next to the noisiest table even though only 3 others were occupied; the English and French cheese selection at £7 was quite small wedges of Cheddar, Brie and Stilton with some stewed fruit; but then nobody does cheese like the French. And there was nothing sweet to accompany the coffee. In spite of this, a good experience and one that I'd like to repeat.

The terrace at the back of Finch’s is enough to make me return on its own, the view overlooking Rutland water is fantastic on a summer’s day. The service lives up to the view as well, offering help and keeping us looked after. The food is also of a high standard, I had grilled chicken which was highly enjoyable. Only small problem is the noise level, I suppose that is what you can expect from such a highly regarded place as Finch’s. A must do for anyone.
