Felix Yu is a superb restaurant in the centre of Northampton that is enjoying a growing reputation in the area for serving authentic and imaginative Chinese cuisine. Felix, the restaurant owner, has years of experience of Chinese cuisine which he combines with a genuine love for local produce and creating imaginative and modern interpretations of traditional dishes.
Felix began his culinary journey as kitchen porter at the tender age of 14 and rose rapidly to become the youngest head chef at Hong Kong’s famous Kowloon restaurant just 6 years later. Felix arrived in the UK in 1980 and enjoyed stints at the prestigious Zen Central, Shanghai, and Pearl in Knightsbridge and Mayfair. He made Northampton his home in 1992 building a reputation as its greatest Chinese chef. After a stint in Woburn and then at Dragon Castle in London, Felix returned to his beloved Northampton in 2008 and opened the doors to one of the finest Chinese restaurants in the area.
Felix Yu The Restaurant offers Cantonese classics alongside innovative contemporary creations with beautiful dishes such as Steamed wasabi Chicken and prawn dumplings sitting next to Seared Carpaccio of beef with chilli, lime and olive oil served with caviar, on a wonderfully varied menu. There are plenty of dishes for vegetarians including Aromatic crisp beancurd, vegetarian Yuk Sung or the beautiful Crisp seaweed with honey-roasted cashew nuts. Meat lovers cannot go wrong with the succulent Slow-roasted honey lamb shank served with spring onion, cucumber and spicy mango sauce. Many fish dishes are also on offer from whole live lobster to Stir-fried fresh scallops and king prawn with Sichuan sea spicy sauce.
If you’re looking for Chinese food with a difference, Felix Yu offers that and more with a great ambience and friendly service, whether you are there for an intimate meal for two or a group of friends sitting around one of the large round tables.

Good quality food and plenty of it. We chose Menu A but will probably make up our own menu next time. We had an enjoyable evening.

We chose the seafood set menu for 2. The food was beautifully cooked and the staff explained what each dish was. The staff were attentive whilst still giving us space and even though the restuarant was busy we didn't have to wait long between courses and the food was delicious and hot.

Not 10/10 for food because the pudding choice was not great.
Not 10/10 on service because there was an excessive wait for the duck course then seemingly no time at all into the main - indicating a problem/oversight with the duck.
