Some of the main course was a little lukewarm, but the gravy was hot, which made up for that. The steak and ale pie had thick, meaty chunks. The cheese and biscuits was of a good standard, with plenty of butter. The staff were attentive and friendly.

Nice pub, friendly staff and good beer although not really impressed with the Sunday lunch. I had pork loin, I assume the crackling surrounding it should have been crispy rather than chewy fat. The stuffing ball was a very strange affair and certainly not of a sage and onion variety, very 'claggy'. The Roast potatoes weren't really roasted, sort of boiled and shown a roasting tin. The Yorkshire pudding was a bit of a chewy pancake type thing, can't fault the veg other than the preoccupation venues seem to have with pickled red cabbage. Don't know if we caught them on a bad day, but I've certainly had better

A friendly greeting at The Cross Keys and smooth efficient service. Our steaks were juicy and tasty with a generous portion of rustic chips. The peppercorn sauce was plentiful and tangy.

A delicious Sunday roast in a relaxed atmosphere at The Cross Keys! Great service too.

A good Sunday lunch, food and service was excellent value for money

Delicious pub food at The Cross Keys. Quite a small menu, but very well cooked. I'd highly recommend the chicken burger!

Helpful pleasant staff at the Cross Keys pub and great food. The menu is small but as they say less is more, the meals we had were stunning and great value. It is a pub so the atmosphere is not really ideal for having a meal (we went on a Friday night so a lot of people in and quite loud) but its a nice old traditional pub which is nice in its own right. Wide selection of drinks available. Would certainly visit again.

Very disappointing. One of us who had beef - medium it was so tough that we sent it back. Rare beef not much better. Vegetables not brilliant.

The Cross Keys downstairs leaves much to be desired but once you are upstairs in the restaurant you forget what's happening downstairs. There was a Valentine's meal and the offer included a glass of Prosecco each. We were seated on time and a friendly young waiter took our order. Once the order had been taken, the waiter returned with our Prosecco. The food was absolutely fabulous. We have eaten in some high class restaurants where the menu/food hasn't been this good. We could hear other diners saying how good the food was. We were very impressed and we will return to the Cross Keys.

The Cross Keys offered a really nice alternative to where I normally take my partner for Sunday Lunch. The menu was pleasant and the service was really efficient. Definitely recommend The Cross Keys for a good Sunday Lunch in Nottingham.

We say…

Located in what used to be the Weekday Cross market, the historic The Cross Keys pub is a venue that has been providing the locals with fine ale and pub cuisine for a great number of years. Now with a new upstairs dining room, the British-based menu allows you to indulge in your favourite pub classics.

Immersed in history, The Cross Keys on Byard Lane has been around for at least 200 years and the owners make sure they keep the tavern’s story alive by mixing traditional décor with modern amenities. The classic Victorian architecture gives a distinctive charm to the surroundings: guests can either chow down in the pub or enjoy their delicious dinner in the beautiful upstairs dining room which now opens for full restaurant service on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The private dining room is exquisitely colourful with a bright but cosy feel, allowing guests to opt for a more intimate setting.

The Cross Keys is home to one of the finest Sunday roasts in town and offers an excellent home-cooked British menu including full English breakfasts, tasty sandwiches, burgers and rustic chips. The dining room presents a la carte and set menus with classics such as ratatouille and wild mushroom pie. Not only do they serve fabulous food, but they serve it at more than reasonable prices, which is why The Cross Keys is such a popular choice for an outstanding meal.

It's clear the staff at The Cross Keys are dedicated to providing a fantastic atmosphere for diners; whether you’re there for a party with friends or a quiet meal with the family. The venue is also host to a number of events throughout the year with two plasma screens showing football, rugby, cricket and other national pastimes. Whatever your taste, you’ll be sure to find something you love at The Cross Keys Nottingham.
