I took my girlfriend down to Archie's for a Sunday lunch after looking at the menu, which we both felt was good value and offered plenty of delicious sounding dishes. We had a great meal - it was one of the occasions were we left looking forward to coming back! I had salmon roulade with cucumber noodles and lemon crème fraiche - it was very tasty and refreshing - ideal as a starter. The presentation of all dishes was excellent, right down to plates and cutlery (The neatly presented roulades for example were served on a very attractive thin black slate). My girlfriend had a pork and chicken terrine, which was quite simply the best terrine we have ever had. There were nice big chunks of meat in the terrine and there was a delicious but light jelly binding the meat with a lovely wafer thin Parma ham encasing everything served with delicious onion chutney - if you go you must try it! For mains I had the sirloin of beef which was still slightly pink which came with the usual trimmings and a generous portion of seasonal vegetables. My girlfriend had pork with two sticks of crackling and mash and apple sauce etc. My beef main course was just the ticket for a Sunday lunch and the pork was nice too although I think the skin was marginally overdone. For dessert we shared a passion fruit crème brulee with shortbread. The brulee was a perfect way to end the meal although we couldn't quite finish our shortbread. House wine was also very good and we’re going to visit again soon!
