Aagrah is a renowned restaurant on a national scale and in 2008 were winners of the British Curry awards best New-comer, not just in Sheffield or Yorkshire, but in the UK! Situated in Sheffield’s restaurant heaven, otherwise known as Leopold Square, Aagrah Sheffield has maintained its nationwide reputation for serving the best in Kashmiri cuisine. Wide steps lead down to the entrance of Aagrah and diners are greeted by staff in the comfortable reception area where you are welcome to enjoy a pre-meal drink and check out the fresh fish counter as well as perusing the wide and tantalising menu.

What makes the Aagrah Sheffield a special venue is the attention to detail in every aspect. The staff take great care over everything from maintaining a beautiful restaurant interior to experimenting with and developing an already fabulous menu.

It is in the House Specialities that the Aagrah restaurant comes into its own, with its authentic and award winning choices. The Hyderabadi dishes are distinctly rich with tangy spices, green coriander, fresh cream, yoghurt, tomatoes, garlic and ginger in bay leaf juices, cardamom and cloves, with either chicken, lamb or King prawn. Equally as enticing but hotter, the Achar dishes are cooked with fresh tomatoes, onion, green chillis, fresh garlic, coriander, methi seeds, aniseed, mustard seeds, ginger and yoghurt gently simmered in bay leaf juices and come with chicken, lamb, King prawn or Monkfish. With such an array of ingredients delicately infusing every offering so carefully prepared by the excellently trained and experienced kitchen staff, whatever you choose is sure to be a winner.

Overall

Enjoyed a fabulous evening. Went in just as the doors opened and we were followed very quickly by a few other tables. The staff were very friendly and the manager came over to see if we were happy which is a great touch. The food was amazing. Mixed starter came of a sizzling plate with the lamb chops the best of the lot. I always order Lamb Tikka Kharai, but this one was top notch. Smaller pieces of lamb that had been marinated and the right levels of heat, truly excellent. Would have no problem coming back at all!
